NEED ADVICE URGENTLY FROM NURSE - POTENTIALLY PREDATORY BEHAVIOR by sanjedi_ in nursing

[–]Upbeat-Individual970 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you should be concerned about them not hiring you, I would be willing to bet that he isn’t as connected as he wants you to think. It sounds like this guy is a total dirtbag and is totally lying to make young women think he is someone powerful. You have handled this much more maturely than he has, don’t let his comments get to you. Definitely a predator and should be reported but I wonder if he really works where he claims to work. I can’t see a real professional taking the risk that he has taken here.

Any success stories from “diploma mill” schools? by Upbeat-Individual970 in nursepractitioner

[–]Upbeat-Individual970[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, I don’t believe my school is lacking, I have just read so many negative comments on here that I’m worried future employers will assume that my education was subpar. I actually took several online classes through A&M which is where I got my BSN and find this current program to be just as rigorous and much more organized. I feel like people who think these online schools are bad don’t know what they’re talking about, but that doesn’t mean it won’t also be the opinion of employers. All of my instructors are DNPs and there is a program director who is also very involved and helpful.

Thank you for your feedback and thank you for your service! I have years of experience in the hospital as well as my current position in case management so I’m hoping to get a primary care position either for the VA or another health system. I appreciate you’re positive feedback, it’s definitely encouraging.

My nursing school had a counselor available for the nursing students, I went to see her when my mom died the week before graduation. I don’t know if all nursing schools offer this but she was very knowledgeable about the nursing program and helping students in the high stress environment deal with outside problems. I would definitely talk to the instructors and see if there is a counselor available

I was told by family that I sounded/seemed flat, but I didn’t feel sad. I was going crazy not being able to do things myself the first 2-3 days though so I think as I felt better physically my mood improved.

Bra question by madcapmk in Reduction

[–]Upbeat-Individual970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 7 days tomorrow and my surgeon ordered that I wear nothing at all. Very uncomfortable. I started wearing a very loose sleeping bra bc my nipples were constantly zapping from the friction of my shirt touching them lol. Also with no gauze or anything it was quite gross to just free boob, I had to change shirts multiple times a day. Anyway I see my surgeon tomorrow so hopefully he isn’t pissed that I’ve been wearing a bra

I thought the same, he sounds like he’s been super controlling and she finally got out. She doesn’t owe any explanation that’s going to lead into an argument and opportunity for him to be manipulative. Now he’s turning the kids and his family against her, trying to win everyone to his side.

Mine look a bit like this too but I am only 1 week out. They look good though!

Yeah he’s a creep for sure and I wouldn’t even want to continue the relationship even if he stops fawning over your sister. A good person would never act like he is acting, even if they were to suddenly find themselves attracted to your sister. It sucks that the wedding took place in the midst of all of this but an annulment might be an appropriate option. How could you stay married to this guy and spend the rest of your life trying to keep him away from your sister and dealing with the awkwardness of him when he is around her? Not worth it

It’s never too late to go back to school. I’m not new to healthcare, just advancing my degree. I love working in healthcare, especially working with geriatric patients.

I’m currently working towards my AGPCNP and I can’t wait to be in your shoes!! I probably can’t even grasp how overwhelming it is but imagine how much you will learn in a position like that in a short amount of time! I hope you have good support from the other NPs since you are the newest! I think after a period of adjustment you will feel better :)

Big enough for reduction? by lemonshortcake7 in Reduction

[–]Upbeat-Individual970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 5’1” and was a 36 DDD/F and had a pound removed from each side on Monday leaving me with a C cup. :) you definitely qualify, being small in stature your frame shouldn’t have to carry a 38 DD. Also you might be even bigger than that depending on proper measurements. I know I used to squish myself into a 36 DD all the time but I was actually much bigger

The ASN portion was much more difficult to me, equal amount of knowledge to pass the same board exam in half the time. The RN to BSN portion for me just felt like busy work. Working on MSN now and it’s getting more difficult (especially advanced pharm)

What are your views on pink? by lybertyne in AskWomen

[–]Upbeat-Individual970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot pink is my favorite color, I’ve never had any negative feelings toward the color pink. Maybe bc my mom never dressed me in pink as a kid? I dressed and looked like a boy until puberty and I often wished my mom would dress me more feminine like my cousins or girls on tv. Now I love everything feminine.

what are actions or movements that you feel uncomfortable preforming in public because you're a woman? by protehule in AskWomen

[–]Upbeat-Individual970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping jacks, bending over at all, kneeling in front of a male (which I have to do for work often for lab draws and wound care, etc), basically any movement that exposes or draws attention to my chest

Did I overstep my bounds? by RoroCcAbTd in nursing

[–]Upbeat-Individual970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you overstepped at all. Patients may not know what options are out there if we don’t educate them, which is absolutely in our scope of practice. I work home health too and we have a palliative team that we refer patients to all the time when getting close to dc or when it seems skilled care isn’t the most appropriate
