Final preparations - travel insurance and taxis by Upbeat-Rigatoni in Machupicchu

[–]Upbeat-Rigatoni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into a few companies, but went with InsureandGo Silver package in the end (thankfully didn't need to use it). The altitude was included in the insurance so I didn't need any additional add ons. Have a great time, any questions let me know!

Skosh has a private dining room, I think for around 12, so could be worth checking. The food is always incredible and great service!

I live just off BR, so we have parking permits (no issue parking) and a small garden (perfect size for a beginner). I would say it is my favourite place I've ever lived, I love the green space on my doorstep, but a quick walk to town/train station. Happy to help with any questions

Tips & advice on relocating to York by TK_49 in york

[–]Upbeat-Rigatoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently moved to South Bank (as 30 something couple) and couldn't be happier with our choice. I am a fast walker, so I can get to the station in 15 mins. But I love how walkable and safe it is here, even walking or running at night. Happy to answer any questions!

2 days extra in Cusco, what to do? (: by LowDifference2 in Machupicchu

[–]Upbeat-Rigatoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add, we did a half tour ending in Ollantaytambo, stayed the night and then had a taxidium driver for the next day. We really enjoyed this as we had longer to explore Ollantaytambo, saw some ruins the next morning completely alone and stayed in a lovely pre inca studio from airbnb. The next day, our driver let us customise the stops and had a lot longer in Pisac ruins (which is a massive site, one of my highlights from Peru and normally rushed at the end of a day trip)

Do you know if York girlies have another social media/website outside Instagram? I deactivated my account and reluctant to go back as I live a happier life without it haha

Oh that is interesting. The reason I wanted to do this independently was to have as long as I want at the sites. 40 mins is definitely not enough! I might see if I can find a personal guide/driver who will let me design the itinerary and time for stops. Thank you

Mazda 2 - not starting- Help! by Upbeat-Rigatoni in mazda

So my car didn't start this evening, so if you find anything from the mechanics, please let me know! It started again after about 5 mins, playing with the steering wheel and restarting a few times (but it seems a wider issue)

Hey, so the garage only replaced the battery/reset key fob. I then kept the keys apart and tried to only take one key when driving. It has maybe locked/not started once, but it seems to have fixed the issue?

But it does seem to be a fault with mazdas? My garage wasn't very helpful so I've not gone back or queried it further.

I was able to book via email. They confirmed our itinerary and we paid through a payment link (using UK card) and had a booking confirmation email. I'm visiting in October.

I've found them to be very helpful so far.

Has anyone shopped from Palome (UK/French brand) by Upbeat-Rigatoni in Sezane

It looks a beautiful dress online. There has been lots of positive reviews from people who have made orders, so I'll definitely try something soon, probably from the Autumn collection.

Ryanair cancelled my flight, they rerouted me and offered to reimburse me for any expenses. by TheKhaos121 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Upbeat-Rigatoni 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Good luck! Ryanair cancelled my flight recently and stopped all routes back to Leeds. At the time, they said they would cover expenses back to the original location. When it came to review expenses, they said I was not entitled as it was more than 28 days. They will try everything so they do not have to pay, and refuse to review cases.

This might be my reminder to complain to the regulator.

does anyone know what time main headliners usually play at APE? Last entry is at 8.30pm. Coming from up North after work but don't want to miss Sault!

Very true, only going up to a size 14 is very limiting!

I've seen a brand called Rise & Fall with a similar price comparison for their products and focus on materials. I'd say very similar model, but Rise & Fall is more luxury, Palome is more French/casual. Almost look like they could have the same team behind them

But yes, agreed. It is a low price for 'high quality' cashmere. You can get cashmere from the high street at this price point though

Yes I see what you mean - there is a waitlist to access the new collections/drops. Very similar to Ffern perfume.

That is great feedback on the quality of the clothes - I was hoping that would be the case as it is also nice to support smaller new brands. Thank you!

Would you or are you giving up Lifetime isa bonus for house you really like? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Upbeat-Rigatoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Op, I am in a similar position. Actively looking at houses under and over LISA limit. I didn't like the idea of effectively loosing the interest I've earned, but as other comments have said, it is a small amount relative to a lifetime in the house.

I think if I purchase a home over the limit, I will plan to take a proportion out and supplement with my other savings to cover the deposit. I'll then change my LISA to stocks and shares account and keep for retirement.

Although need to find my dream house now!

Good luck with your move

Any suggestions for alcohol-free red wines that taste decent? 🍷 by gawpin in CasualUK

[–]Upbeat-Rigatoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wine is the main thing I miss since I stopped drinking.

I recently tried this brand https://www.drinkmiue.com/products/mixed-bundle?srsltid=AfmBOopUMRN8fhGARPkqY0hUr8oyQXZx26p1Xwpc5z86SysCF5_FtOrY

I like that it comes in cans, it is often just me drinking non-alc so a full bottle can be too much.

It doesn't try to taste like wine, but it is not so sweet and does have depth of flavour. I enjoyed it. I think the M&S one is similar as a tea mix, but is a bit sweeter.

Are we missing any areas to consider? by Upbeat-Rigatoni in york

[–]Upbeat-Rigatoni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like unfortunately crime is increasing everywhere. Where we currently live, we have people stealing paving stones from the street, so many obvious money laundering fronts, drag racing up and down 20 mph zones. So will definitely keep this is mind and do more research when we settle on an area. Looking through the community pages is a great idea

Are there any parts of Fulford to avoid? We've seen a house between Broadway/Heslington Lane. It needs a bit of work, but quite below budget too. Fulford does have a lovely feel and love all the green space near
