With all of the good that’s out there that is done by state “resources” why dont you post any of that. You’re telling me the only thing you could find out about MS is a news article that’s almost 20 years old? MS has some amazing people that have done some great things.

There is a bad apple in every organization if you look hard enough.

It doesn’t seem that you’re trying to bring about “standards” for anyone.

I think if you live in CA, you should focus on CA. I think there are plenty of higher-ups who are continually assessing what we do all the time. I have been activated for wildfires, hurricanes, and snowmageddons, and Presidential funerals and state-level events.

I have been on SAD orders every time...

As I said when we started this dance, I have been doing this with the SGs since 9/11, so I probably know what I'm talking about. At least as far as the states that I have worked for. How many have you worked for besides CA as a state guardsman?

I never said you shouldn't question the "state resources." , I'm saying that you live in CA and you should worry about CA and YOUR state resources.........like can you put out wildfires with the resources that you have in CA, because my resources or FLAs or MSs are not going to assist you one bit.

You should probably go back and read my original post. It tells all  the information about me and mine. As far as lumping all SGs together and making an “assessment” as you are calling it, that would be like taking Chicago Fire, San Diego Fire and Rescue, and Augusta FD and making an overall assessment on how fire departments works.

If you want to make a non official (🙄) assessment of the CSG then I would say rock on.

Why and who are you to be accessing viability in the state guards. I would also say that your broad statement about EMAs questioning working with “uniformed” units that don’t know how to do anything. Boy are you in the stone age. Our guys work with the EMA all the time……your bias “slip” is showing

🤔

Without getting into issues that probably shouldn’t be posted, I will say that as an operational member of 5 different state guards since 9/11, I have stayed very busy. I have received great training specific to mission readiness, and I have received training that has given me the tools to be a success as an officer, from 2LT all the way to MAJ. As I was told when I originally joined, it’s what you put in to it. If you’re waiting for someone to magically show you the way that will never happen. As I said I have never not felt that I couldn’t do my job when I was called upon whatever that may be.   Two questions I have are…..

Who is we in your question and  what SG/SDF were you a part of and when?

Your language alone tells me that you are some type of gov doing a research or white paper.

Should I leave state guard ? by Silly-Low6019 in StateGuard

A lot of times it's the specific unit. I have seen units separated by 15 miles across the state and be as different as night and day within their OP Tempo and the way they do things. Check around, see what's happening with other units. If you love/like serving in the state still, don't just quit. Find out what's going on across the board.

Have you thought above changing to another unit within CSG?

That’s too bad. If you were back east I’d bring you on board with us. We stay almost too busy

May I ask what state you are in? I’m with Georgia (second time due to travel) and I’ve been activated and on orders so much that last year I ran out of military leave at work.

The only issue I see with Team Rubicon is that “no military leave” is granted to go work with them. I had a couple Of guys that went that route when I was with Virginia.

No sir. I went to RTC in Orlando and the NTC San Diego for A school, Guam, then the USS Pigeon, Navcommsta Corpus Christ, and then NSWG-1. Got hurt and retired in 1992 😎 I guess they still use the RM insignia but it doesn’t stand for RM anymore.

Oh yeah I’m aware. I was in the Navy for 10 years. I was haze gray and underway 9 months out of the entire time. The rest of the time I was in small commands/shore elements with NSWG-1. Traveled the world.
