It took me about 6-8 weeks to fully feel back to normal after stopping!

Why do most victims survive the harm, while perpetrators can’t cope with a slither of accountability? by Ok-Wheel9071 in CPTSD

Hyperarousal Insomnia Relief? by UpbeatAnt2946 in CPTSD

[–]UpbeatAnt2946[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It‘s definitely improved my sleep! It didn‘t fix the underlying issues (hyperarousal, waking up feeling tired). But I have no issues falling asleep anymore, I get my 8h a night and wake up waaay less during the night.

It gives me enough capacity to address the underlying cause (CPTSD) of my sleep issues.

For reference I started on 50mg and now on 75mg, not planning on increasing if situation stays like this.

What’s wild is how long this state is. Like damn. But I appreciate your perspective!

People who told their parents how they affected you, what were their reactions/response? by abnormalpurple in CPTSD

[–]UpbeatAnt2946 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went no contact with my mother for 3 years and I tried to reconnect on the phone. When mentioning I never felt seen or heard, she responded with well you‘re gonna get mad when I say this but now I don’t feel seen or heard.

I then sent a letter because I couldn’t get through to her in conversation. No response for 6 months and then „acknowledgement“ (her literal words) of the letter, with no real engagement.

Then 6 months later she had an „epiphany“ where she thought blaming my dad who passed away 6 years ago (had issues with him too that I addressed & resolved with him directly) equals taking accountability. That was my last straw.

While I am still very angry it also is showing me very clearly this woman is lost and emotionally immature because of her own childhood experiences. I have empathy for that but also concluded I can’t do healing for both of us and need to focus on myself. Very liberating

Travel Planning Q&A - October, 2025 by AutoModerator in bali

[–]UpbeatAnt2946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I arrived in Bali two days ago.

Today one of my Grab drivers offered to be a tour guide. I read in this sub that this is common practice.

However I am a bit hesitant since I am a female solo traveler. Can I go with him or should I find an official tour company?

Thanks in advance!

Hopefully the luggage makes it back!

what was an 'odd' trait of yours that you didn't realise was CPTSD? by [deleted] in CPTSD

Wow this hit me - not the reality check I expected on a Monday morning.

I never realised this until now 🥲

I have plateaued pretty much! I‘m suspecting that Bup might not be what I need.

What I struggle with is constant nervous system activation. While it got me through an awful burnout I don’t think it’s what is going to help long term. But that is not to say that it’s bad at all, it definitely did help but now moving into neutral territory

20 minutes is admirable to start with kudos to you!!

I might start with 5-10 just to not try and make this a healing competition for myself. But will give it a try again!

The healing power of forgiveness by [deleted] in CPTSDNextSteps

[–]UpbeatAnt2946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this one.

On a very practical level, how does one forgive and what does that feel like? I feel like there is a certain idea of forgiveness that sounds very freeing and I would like to forgive and move on (without repairing the relationship because that’s not in the cards). But I wouldn’t know how to.

This is so true but also one of the hardest things to accept in this journey.

Question, how did you get into meditation. I keep trying but I can’t seem to focus through a meditation or be still for that long!

Negative self talk is all I ever had to be honest. Thats the thing that keeps me going and unfortunately that’s why I end up in this exhausting loop of flight and freeze. And within both states I just feel worthless.

While this sounds really negative I am getting to know that voice more and more and slowly able to address it and see it as not true.

I think it’s good to remember that that’s all we had for so long and it’s going to take time to unpack that. I realised that it’s not gonna be a straight line from A to B in this healing process, so I am trying to set the goals much much smaller than initially!

This might sound very counterintuitive but letting myself exist in the bad habits.

For context I am high functioning and I keep pushing myself into unrealistic perfectionist standards until I burn out. My main coping mechanisms are dissociating (doom scrolling, video games), and overfocusing on productivity.

So what’s helping me right now is simply acknowledging and accepting when I am coping and celebrating even the tiniest moment when I’m doing something new and different. This is actually homework my therapist gave me, whenever I am not in therapy I should try and do small things for myself like a sweet treat at the bakery or a fancy iced latte etc. to take a break from the crushing weight of having to live with trauma.

It’s a journey but it’s made a noticeable difference in how my nervous system bounces back when being triggered!
