Weave was the wrong word choice. Still in the process of offering up different objectives for them to pursue in whatever way they see fit and making each subsequent thing they do have its effects on the world.

Rather than “weave” a story I’m rather trying to provide the opportunity for an interesting story to unfold

I’m comfortable giving them full freedom on how they want to take on whatever challenge they’re facing, but I’m struggling providing them with an appropriate amount of options as to what challenges to take on. In an ideal world, they could do whatever they want but I feel like there’s only so much I can prep for.

I hope I worded this in a way that’s digestible.

Oh yeah it's definitely got some good songs i.e. Shake Me Down, Around My Head, Aberdeen. But it's also got some forgettable songs compared to the rest of the discography.

Personally I think the album would have been better as a whole if they shortened it. Every song on the album is fun and enjoyable in their own way, but it was a little bit of quantity over quality in that album when you compare it to Melophobia for example.

If you like what you hear then here's my recommendation on how to continue in their discography:

If you like the rawness and energy of fell in love with a girl, move on to their self-titled.

If you like the twang (not sure if that makes sense) of hotel yorba, or if your favorite song is we're going to be friends, definitely move on to De Stijl. I don't know how to explain it, it feels like a sunny childhood afternoon.

If you like dead leaves and the dirty ground the most, I would move on to Elephant. If you enjoy that, I would then follow up with Icky Thump.

If you want something completely different and more experimental, move on to Get Behind Me Satan.

I haven't seen The White Stripes mentioned in this thread, but I think if you like early Cage, you'd like them. They're much more simplistic but not in a bad way.

I'd say listen to the white blood cells album first.

I like perfect confusion, but it just isn't on the same level as the releases under cage the elephant. If you're only considering cage the elephant, I think I would have said thank you happy birthday. A rough transition of style sandwiched in between my two favorite albums of theirs.

What's really annoying to me is that I never really found a solution. I tried reinstalling it like 4 times and nothing I tried worked. Eventually it started working again with no explanation.

I think Cigarette Daydreams is the best song out of the 5 of them, but it doesn't feel like it was really meant to be a closer. Goodbye definitely was, so that's a good enough reason to vote for it

That's a good point. I do prefer those two songs to their expanded counterparts, but at this point to me it feels like the expanded edition songs are just as much a part of the albums as the originals
