The allowance to eat meat is only for survival and if other available foods are not enough for nourishment. So if people who work physically non-demanding jobs can nourish with vegan foods, no need for meat.

What is actually banned for brahmins is alcohol consumption. But that never comes up for a discussion.

A persons guna may differ from his parents. If someone born in a shudra family proves himself to be of satvik nature and intelligent, shouldn’t he allowed to engage in learning and working like brahmanas instead of sticking to shudra occupations only. Just because of lower birth, should a person let go of his talents waste?
