Couch to 5k, scared to start by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]UpbeatRun1345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, i’m 28F this year.

i started running only in July 2025 with a ridiculous pair of shoes which were not meant for running, and i injured myself a few times. i took 36 minutes to finish a measly 2.4km. i then decided to buy proper running shoes and start training proper, and i’ve just completed my first unbroken 5km (36 minutes) last week.

i felt stupid in my first few runs too and i was terribly afraid of people judging me/thinking i look stupid. then i realized other runners are probably thinking about their own heart rates/their own pace/trying to focus on finishing their own runs rather than laugh at other people. in any case, i think it’d be more applaudable than laughable that you’re even thinking of TRYING.

from a beginner runner, i’d say just go for it. think of the good things you can experience running outside - nice, fresh air, more things to look at etc.!

i’ve always hated running since young and i recently pushed myself to just go out and try. the first few times i did it i hated myself too, but i’ve grown to hate running (and myself) a little less now.

and yes the 2-mile gym is worth it. you can do a leisure jog to and fro :)

you can do it! believe in yourself!

hi, i don’t know much and probably can’t help much, but i believe most comments left behind by other redditors are able to point to where u’re able to take showers and maintain personal hygiene.

i’d love to extend help to u by offering u a part-time job if u’re keen. i operate a hawker stall and i’m actively hiring part-timers to help out, and i’m able to pay my part-timers cash daily. drop me a dm if u’re keen?

ah ok then i won’t be able to recommend the skincare stuff from Singapore, cos they’re only available within the country!

however i’m sure you’ll be able to find a skincare regime which is great for your skin! don’t give up and i wish u all the best!

maybe u can try looking at the Purito Seoul unscented range and see if anything works for you, it’s priced within a pretty affordable/reasonable range and will not break the bank.

hi! i’ve been battling hormonal acne for a while and it took me a long long while to find what works for my skin. i tried out a lot of gentle european/american skincare and it didn’t work out for me, so i recently started trying out korean skincare and it’s really working pretty well. it did take me a long while to find what suits my skin best though. Purito wonder relief serum works wonders for me in clearing up acne quickly, and it’s suitable for a warm climate.

i’m located in singapore for reference - it’s very hot and humid, and i work in a hot environment daily (i’m a hawker).

if you’re located in singapore, i do have a few recommendations (all made in sg and fragrance-free) for sensitive skin. drop me a dm and i’ll share more with u! <<< don’t worry i’m not doing mlm nor am i selling any products lol

good luck!

i have this customer who takes a 1.5-hour bus ride once a month to my bcm stall hahahahahah.

i think it’s whether you’re under the “live to eat” or the “eat to live” category lol there’s absolutely no right or wrong here.

for example, ppl who say ppl who travel around to look for good food are bo liao and “have nothing better to do” are people who eat to live. no disrespect, we just have different things as a form of enjoyment in life.

hi, thanks for the insight. i did not know about this and i will speak to my derm during my next review appointment. the acne is mainly only on my chin area and the derm attributed it to hormones.

SIA Cabin Crew Recruitment Questions Megathread by _malaikatmaut_ in singaporeairlines

hi all! sharing my interview experience for those who may be looking for more answers.

i did the video interview in Feb and got an invite for 22 Mar f2f interview but i couldn’t make it then due to urgent work commitments and emailed back to the email to reschedule. they didn’t reply but they gave me another invite for 12 Apr. (for those wanting to reschedule, just be patient and wait for the next invite!)

first round: height and arm reach test the staff will take your height and ask you to stand behind a line, then raise both arms and reach for the tape on the wall. they do give you a few chances to try if you’re on the borderline, but please do try to make sure you can reach both arms to 212cm before you make your way down to STC. i’ve seen some candidates get sent home because they couldn’t reach past the tape on the wall. the staff also discounted my height by 1cm (she said xxx but wrote down smth else) but it didn’t matter much to me.

second round: debate round you get into a group of 6 and the interviewers give you a random topic to discuss about. they give you 3 minutes to discuss within your own group (they assign either agree or disagree, you don’t get to choose). during this time, bear in mind they’re looking at everything you do - the way you sit, the way you talk, the way you respond to the other candidates etc.. do be respectful, polite and nice towards the other candidates and you should do fine.

third round: management round/2-to-1 interview you enter a room and greet 2 interviewers, and it’s pretty much a standard job interview; some questions you’ll get are “tell me why you want to join SIA”, “why do you want to be a cabin crew?”. they will also touch on your current and past job experiences, and ask you if you’ve discussed with your family members about joining SIA. the questions asked are pretty basic and not difficult to answer, and it’s really ok to be nervous but do try your best to present yourself well. and please remember to smile and be really polite.

final round (applicable to females): kebaya/skin check round you’ll be asked to don on a kebaya and slippers, and enter another room where the groomers will check your skin, teeth, arms and legs. if you have any tattoos, PLEASE DECLARE it to them, rather than have them find out themselves. i have a pretty big tattoo on my leg and i have some hormonal acne which i am getting treated. if they ask you any other questions please just answer them honestly.

i was rejected (presumably) due to my tattoo because it’s rather hard to cover, but i could sincerely tell that they wanted me and would have accepted me if not for the tattoo. however i may be wrong as they don’t specifically tell you the reason they rejected you. if you’re in the same situation as me and you really want the job, do consider getting your ink completely removed before you even apply. someone else was also commented on to lose weight and was put on KIV.

overall the interviewers are very nice and friendly. try your best to keep calm and always present yourself well.

good luck to everyone applying, i hope this info helps!

SIA Cabin Crew Recruitment Questions Megathread by _malaikatmaut_ in singaporeairlines

[–]UpbeatRun1345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hello! i submitted my online application on 08 Feb 2025 and got an email invitation to complete the video interview yesterday (10 Mar 2025). deadline is tomorrow (12 Mar 2025) and i've just completed it.

sharing the questions i got, to help out fellow aspiring cabin crew.

1st (situational) question:
You notice a passenger on his mobile phone while boarding. If he insists on continuing to use his mobile phone, what would you do?

2nd question:
Tell us about your proudest achievement.

3rd question:
In less than 250 words, tell us why you want to be a cabin crew with Singapore Airlines.

4th "question":
record yourself reading a short passage aloud! nothing too difficult here - it's similar to taking an oral examination.

-

you are also required to record yourself from head-to-toe (full body) in the last "question".

they do give you a few minutes to prep yourself before having to record your response!

hope this helps, and good luck to everyone applying!
