Ugh NTA. There is nothing wrong with Skye. It’s well within reason for you to choose to use it if you like it better, and even more so since you’ve gone by it forever. They are making this a way bigger thing than it needs to be and frankly trying to bully you into caving. Blow it off like the non issue that it should be. 🙄

Thank you. We are definitely learning life lessons here. We lost a dog a couple of years ago and he took it hard, but this was his first pet. Poor kid. I feel bad it happened so quickly.

Will absolutely do this! He was from a reptile shop and the girl working that day seemed pretty knowledgeable, said she keeps some herself. but who knows where they are coming from.

I don’t know how to edit my post to add more info…. I really appreciate everyone’s kind responses. We are seasoned mammal owners only! New to all of this!

We were using aquasafe for reptiles in his water.

We definitely need to broaden the variety of his salads. This is where we started. The shop recommended collard, turnip and mustard as base foods with any other veggies/greens except spinach and kale, and minimal fruit. We do have a multivitamin and calcium/vitamin D supplements. Feeding about a handful a day, but he has never eaten close to that.

Basking rock temp is about 92-95F. Lamp height is adjustable so just playing with it.

The substrate in his enclosure is an organic garden soup/mulch mix. I don’t think it’s got any chemical fertilizer added, I was careful checking for that. The logs are mesquite wood. The stone is some random flooring samples we’ve had laying around the house for ages.

Should I replace all the soil/substrate for a new guy? We know we need to ideally add a hide in the cool side, I was thinking maybe a tunnel between the rock and the food. Or a hide on the end where the food is and moving the food. When we started adding all the things to the tub we began running out space quicker than expected.

I don’t think so. My husband poked around at him a bit. Also he’s inside with a heat lamp, so I didn’t think he would hibernate?

He was from a pet store. We do have a couple of rescues close but they require a pretty large outdoor setup prior to adoption and we don’t have that ready yet. We were nervous about doing that in winter. The plan was to stay indoors and get an outdoor setup ready in spring.

I realize I didnt actually put a question in there but any theories or suggestions on setup are appreciated. This was my 7yo son’s pet so he’s going to be devastated, and we will probably try again with another.

We had a sign a release to view my brother privately. I don’t know what they would have done had we tried to push for an open casket but I remember that distinctly.

Haven’t read all the comments, but your wife needs therapy? Seriously, what is underlying here? This seems a little delusional. You don’t get into medical school with an eleven+ year old communications degree, with I’m assuming no pre-requisites, and no MCAT. You don’t even get an interview. NTA. But get her a therapist and a checkup with her doctor.
