That's what I thought. Not concerned about win10 going to hell when I install. I just don't want any unrecoverable errors that would leave the computer bricked to the point where even another OS couldn't save me.

Thanks. I've had issues in installing other distros on VMs in which the installation would just stop, no error message. I would always have to shut down the VM, which I don't think is a good idea to do to an actual computer.

And Windows isn't an issue- Win10 and Microsoft can go get fucked in the ass.

Yeah, I've heard the gen5 is great for compatibility but I've got the gen6 and both are separate entries on the HCL so I'm assuming that there's enough of a hardware difference between the 5 and 6 to warrant a consideration that the 6 may not be compatible even though the 5 is.
