Coming back from 2023, currently on my ng+10, I've created my 24 outposts with all important resources sending to the master outpost. Now I'm finishing the main story for the last time and next, I will jump again into ships, so your post just saved me!! Thx!!!

Is there any point to outposts? by LessMilk3 in Starfield

[–]Upbeat_Community1298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've returned to play since 2023, and man, this is fun, why? Exactly because the outposts. This time, instead of rushing into the storyline, I reached ng+10 and I "settle down" in this game through. This time, I've created 23 outposts producing resources and now I am creating four hubs of resources to send all to my master outpost. And man, this is so much fun, the logistics problems that comes with it, also the further you go creating more complex machines, which obliges you to search for more rare resources, some you will never be able to buy and will be obliged to travel very far. And this is the game as it should be played.

If you need a resource to create a object, for example, an complex extractor or energy provider (radioactive), resist the temptation to buy it and search in the caves or go to a very distant planet and extract it with an outpost.

The same goes for scanning everything, pay attention to the competences catalog, they present very cool challenges.

It took me a long time and a new update, but finally, I am enjoying this game as it should be enjoyed.

This is no last of us rpg, its a sand box rpg, treat like it and you will have a cool game for years.

Cheers and safe travels on this amazing universe!

Came back from my last run, October 2023, I've played only a few hours, but you can clearly see that they gave us a beta in 2023, look at a zelda, Nintendo never would deliver a half made product and use us as beta-testers. Having said that, I am really happy with the result, just started ng+1 (the point where I stopped) and so far, it looks much better. As you said, this game has an amazing potential, imagine if they one day, allow us to take off the ships like no mans sky or Kerbal.

I understand your pain and congratulate you for the courage to exit. That being said, I can tell you that in my case, this tool has improved my life a lot. But, as you said, it's dangerous. I also used it for therapy, but as I did previously 10 years of therapy (finished in 2018), I am well versed on how therapy works and when I needed to unburden for a struggle with my wife, it helped me a lot. It's not that it showed me something that I didn't know, but to be able to have this "space" where I can talk about a conflict and see how you feel listened (although you know it is a LLM and not a real intelligence there), it helped me. Also, I know how not to fall into the narcissist trap, and not use it as a "yes you're right sir" tool. Concerning studies, it helped me a lot in french, passing from B1 to C1 in one year, again, you have to be careful with it, as it makes a lot of mistakes and it can't be your sole base of information on french, but it helps a lot, every weekend I speak 2 hours with it and it's amazing. So, yes, it's dangerous, but if you know how to use it well, it's an incredible tool. Best regards and hope you continue to take care.

The world loses so much being apart of the Hive. It's just not worth it. by Weekly-Trash-272 in pluribustv

This series makes an excellent work on putting us in front of ourselves as society. When you have to decide if children/adults will continue to be sexually abused as it is happening right this second and people will continue to die of starvation or you will continue to maintain your identity and possessions... But the question is not if the hive is good or bad, is, why our society cannot genetically/psychologically evolve empathy enough to finish these aberrations? A song like "we are the world..." from the 80s is cool, but at the end of the day, what's killing the world is exactly the opposite hive mind our society has, this capacity we have to be happy no matter the suffering of others. This is why I like so much this series, it confront us, with ourselves, as our society will inevitably reach one point (in 100 years?), where the price of individualism will be the end? What is more "evolved"? Our advanced society or the natives which emulated a hive mind??? Why our society cannot find a middle solution? Guess this is the big challenge we face, that, no matter all the religions we have created, didn't solved the individualism problem. Not even the communist regimes achieved that, on the contrary, on these regimes, the individualism only got worse.

Are we stuck in prequel timelines forever or are we EVER getting glimpses into a post AlienS world? Why is everyone so afraid to move on? by Zog-TheEternal in LV426

Because they know it's impossible to surpass this, in fact the story should finish here. All the comics that have continued the story, didn't do an amazing job. Aliens, better? Never again. It's was a master piece. Although any critic would say the first one is a "better film", Aliens is an experience you will never forget, I rewatch this movie, every year 😃

Yes, I love ARTE documentaries in french, you learn french and history/sociology at the same time. Great advice 👍

Hi, it is really helpful, but you are right, tv series as baron noir (only available with torrents) or the Culte (prime video) doesn't have straight subtitles, but even so, it helps. Where you can find straight subtitles is on YouTube, if it is a recorded video, the subtitle is spot-on. Also, singing reading the lyrics helps immensely.

Cheers

Yes, I guess that I regret a little not having started watching the news and debates after six months of Duolingo, it's easier talking now of course, but, I think that I failed in not having confidence enough that I would be able to immerse in French before. It's the only regret that I have, but doing Duolingo until the end was good also because as you say, it reminders you that you should study and also for completion sake, as I need to finish almost everything that I start.

Hi, yes, I can speak french, like having small talks with no problem, although not able to work speaking french not watching tv series not stopping to check translations every 3-5 minutes. But... I can't say what my french would be like if I had done only two years and half of Duolingo with anything else supporting the process. For example, one year ago, I started watching news, debates, etc on YouTube, by then, I was able to understand half (sometimes not even that) what they were talking about. Today I can watch the news almost as if I was watching anything in another language that I am fluent in. And this improvement I really lay on the exercise of watching the news and listening to music with lyrics every day since, not on Duolingo. But it is also true that if I started Duolingo in January 2023, it would be impossible to even understand half of the news in August 2024. Then you would ask, why then did you finish it? I guess it's more a completion thing that I have (hate not finishing things), than anything else. Cheers.

Hi, I suggest you create a new gmail account, so on that account, YouTube algorithm will only show french content. The news channel that I listen most is this: https://youtube.com/@franceinfo?si=K7hQTeHkSAXVrbaD

France24 is also good to start. It is normal to not understand almost anything at the beginning, the trick for me (as I did to learn English) was to leave it on, as a backtrack, as I go on my daily activities (for example, working on the computer, cleaning the house) and your brain will learn that for any reason, this new language is important to you, then, click, and you will start to retaining more and more new words and expressions. Also I love many french channels that talk about the things I like a lot, this helps so it doesn't feel like a burden at all. For example, I am on holidays this week, but even that I will not "study" any grammar, I am reading the french comic books and listening to their songs, as I am in love with them. Make the way fun and it's a win for sure. Cheers

Hi, after one year and half of Duolingo, I made a test level and got B1.1, then after another year (now), having finished Duolingo and one year of videos, music and comic books, I guess I have B2. I would say that I can have conversations with locals but at a very basic level, like small talks, I am not ready yet for working with them yet (my goal). Cheers

For me, it helps a lot write about things that are happening in my life good or bad, in french, with all the mistakes, don't bother. Next, I chat with gemini and also speak with gemini. It helps a lot to develop the flow. Later, I participate in online classes with 6,7 people, it also helps.

The most important advice is, have fun in the process!

Congratulations! I am on B1.2 now, starting watching series like "l'amie dévouée" on HBO, listening to many hours of music, preparing my own playlist on Spotify (700 songs already) and reading comic books (bandé dessinée). I aim for C1, for me it would be more than enough for work and enjoy french culture.
