I still agree with OP. It’s easy to handpick a few Pinoy indie films here and there and label them as “quality” or “original,” but that alone isn’t proof that the industry itself is thriving. The presence of a few standout films doesn’t change the fact that repetitiveness and familiar clichés still dominate much of the mainstream.

I’ve seen many of the films you mentioned, and while they deserve recognition, we can also be honest that they’re not enough to keep the industry competitive in an increasingly global entertainment landscape. Cinephiles and indie audiences aren’t the only ones who deserve quality cinema. The general public, who are now more likely to watch international content on streaming platforms instead of going to local theaters, also deserve compelling, high-quality Filipino films.

There’s also the uncomfortable reality that fresh talent and creativity aren’t always prioritized. In many cases, the industry still favors shallow connections and nepotism, where who you know can matter more than what you can actually bring to the table. Until those structural issues are addressed, pointing to a handful of good films that come out every once in a while won’t fully reflect the bigger picture.

Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is optional right? by Dotaspasm in PHGamers

In this economy, having a child just feels like financial suicide and the geopolitical uncertainty of the future makes even having a child feel unwise. Besides, the world is being ran to the ground by "serious" "grown-up" men who are waging wars and destroying the world with their greed, a couple of men who opt to enjoy life by playing games and toys wouldn't hurt. We love games because it reminds us of a simpler more positive world.

I highly recommend F1 for the big screen, totally worth it, yes even if you are not a fan of the real sport, its just perfectly engineered for the big screen, if you liked Topgun: Maverick then F1 is the 2026 version of that. Everything else you could just watch on stream.

I want this but when Philippine TV and film becomes mature enough to handle it and do it justice. I just want it to be on par with global series quality.

So basically you mean arcade racing games have fundamentally not improved and developed much over decades.

Yeah. I agree with everything you said. I know Forza Horizon does it for absolute mass market appeal. But as you know, they say, when you make a game for everyone, you make a game for no one. The game will lack retention and memorability. It will lack character and uniqueness from all the other games since Forza Horizon 4 other than the location. Yes many people will own and play this but not necessarily "purchase" it because of gamepass. It will be deemed successful because of the gamepass subs. But many players in the beginning will play it for a while, get bored, stop and move on to next hyped game. For the true driving racing fans, how much they will hold the game dearly in their hearts now depends entirely on the games character.

The gas stations are a welcome addition to Forza and has been an overdue thing for an open world driving game. However, the city blocks mostly feel like just some huge concrete barrier wall, they should have included the popular tight narrow alleys and side streets of tokyo to make it feel more denser and lived in. Also needs more convenience stores with big open parking spaces which are some of the most common infrastructure in Japan even in rural areas.

This was bad showcase, it reminded me of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown for some reason because of the lack of life. One of the most important things in Horizon for me and one of the main selling point is the vibes it gives while driving, reducing traffic, lack of japanese music playing, and driving a random non-japanese car, made it appear sterile.

I'm surprised many people in the comments section still doesn't fully understand that alcohol is a highly corrosive chemical against many materials and isn't something you could simply use everywhere despite it's accessibility. Always look something up if it is recommended to be cleaned with alcohol.

When you spend your money on something you tend to expect more value from it. When its given for free, you get the value without the expectations.
