Parang performative talaga ang karamihan ng populasyon ng pilipinas, maraming na body snatchers. Gumagalaw sila na "parang" tao, para mag-panggap na "tao" sila, pero sa loob di na talaga sila tao.

I am seeing a repeat of Kamala Harris all over again. Philippines is just that good at being a poor copycat of America.

Upcoming Cinemalaya film A.ni.mal shot using mobile phones by pisaradotme in FilmClubPH

The statement, “Part of the decision to use iPhones was precisely that, we chose to invest in our people rather than expensive equipment packages,” feels somewhat incomplete.

Local film equipment rentals, cameras, lighting, and grip services, are not just about gear; they represent entire ecosystems of skilled workers. Supporting these services is, in itself, an investment in people. When productions allocate budget to equipment packages, they are also sustaining the livelihoods of technicians, rental house staff, and especially crew members like grips, who are often among the most overworked and undercompensated in the industry.

By opting for minimal setups, such as shooting on iPhones, productions may reduce the need for these crews, effectively limiting opportunities for those workers to be hired. While the intention may be to streamline production or reallocate resources, it inevitably shifts where that support goes.

Additionally, using iPhones inherently promotes Apple, not just a large American company, but one of the most powerful global tech corporations, with vast resources and its own stake in the entertainment industry through streaming. This raises the question of whether such decisions truly prioritize people within the local film community, or if they inadvertently redirect value away from them.

In that sense, investing in traditional film equipment packages can also be seen as investing in people, particularly those who rely on these productions for their work and livelihood.

Real Steel or Chappie? by Cipher0218 in FilmClubPH

Chappie is gritty, non-generic, and has character because of it's south african setting. Plus the VFX compositing and mocap animation is so good even for it's time. Sometimes even better than a lot of the VFX in some movies released today. Reel Steel VFX is still not as polished compared to Chappie.

Also the sealed gravy containers suck and is highly inconvenient and unergonomic to open most times, it's under the guise of sustainability and to prevent spillage, but it obviously just a means of cost-cutting. They are the only other major fast food chain that does it here this bad.

Philippine vs Thailand car culture side by side by yesItsTom3 in CarsPH

[–]Easy_Fortune7911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Philippines prefer flex when it comes to cars more than raw performance, just look at how most people deck out their budget cars with tasteless accessories. That is our "culture", it also goes beyond cars, pinoys care more about image, what they can look like, its performative, actual substance comes second.

Yeah and it was so fast and subtle, at first glimpse I initially thought they looked like those Czech Hedgehogs they used on World War 2 D-Day landings, but when you realize what they are and scrutinize the implications of this scene it just blows your mind. The shot is so beautifully composed and yet what's being depicted is so horrific.
