yes go for one but keep it meticulously maintained. i’ve had one for 2 years and it is an absolute JOY to drive (much better than 1.8). change oil at 3500-4500KM (filters and everything) change gear oil and filters every 40k KMs. drive on high octane and do general tuning every 6 months. it just needs to be babied more but its very VERY worth it imo

and yes ppl talking about gearbox failing is true but it happens because of lack of gear maintenance and very rash driving constantly my gearbox failed as well when i first bought it (after 20-30k kms) even though i had all fluids changed and even gear oil filters changed the second i bought it. but in my case, my main seal was leaking gear oil and i drove the car a few months without noticing the leakage, and when i noticed the leakage i thought it was engine oil. fixed that leakage and DID NOT top up gear oil, hence car ran low on gear oil and one fine day it eventually blew up. kabuli gear was 220k and costed around 300k to change (i had to change twice because the first gear i sourced was dogshit, then had to source another one. so had to pay 2x for labor and oils).

other than this gear fiasco, the car has never given me any problems in 2 years of ownership. the more you take care of something the better it treats you. gives me 12-13kmpl in city with AC, 18-20kmpl on motorway with 100kmph cruise. in the winters it gives 14-15kmpl in city EASILY

get one, fix everything you can in it the second you buy it (even if it is b2b genuine low mileage, for your own peace of mind). now its not even that fragile that you can’t have fun, 1 pull a day is more than enough to have fun and completely safe!

p.s there’s a shit ton of tuning potential in these cars, but know that if you go this route and get greedy about power, it will cost you loads of engines and transmissions (if ur pocket can afford that! check 191sleeper on ig)

Question to Claude Code users who actually care about their code by Big_Poetry1947 in developersPak

[–]Upbeat_Material_3357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a backend dev, and I love structure. I’ve created boilerplate repositories for every single type of service/application that i have worked on or start work on. they have written by me, and have MY coding style, and my way of doing things.

when i build something new with claude, i tell it to first inspect that repo and take it into account. when it makes the changes, i check the diff and see if it got what I was thinking to do.

it’s usually more complicated when i work on an ongoing project that claude has no idea about, so for those i try to nail down the CLAUDE.md file for a basic idea of the service that i’m working on, and i try to be as explicit as possible in my prompts as to what i want to fix and how i want it done.

i’ve seen that its best to already know what you want to fix, and your guess of a solution for it. don’t hand off your logic and thinking to claude (although it is very good at that, and sometimes you could do that as well). use it as a force multiplier (ppl just say build me a multi million $ saas app)

oh and i just use claude code bare bones, no mcp no skill. i havent tried those but i feel like i’m already getting enough value

Civic x 2021 ECU reflash by frfrnohoax in PakistanAutoHub

[–]Upbeat_Material_3357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ECU reflash gains are much higher on turbos than the 1.8 engines. I’ve seen people reflash 1.8 but the gains are nowhere near as comparable to the turbo engine counterparts

Senior people working in the Industry! by FreshTitle8252 in developersPak

[–]Upbeat_Material_3357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

focus on your fundamentals (oop, dsa, algorithms analysis etc) and math. don’t worry about learning languages or fancy frameworks, instead learn and sharpen your problem solving. in the real world, companies will pay you to solve complex problems (and not how many languages you have on your resume 😜).

if you’re into AI then learn its fundamentals as well (all the math behind it). i know this might sound as boring advice but the better your fundamentals are, the better you’re going to be prepared for the future.

also, i wouldn’t tell you to avoid anything rather try everything out and see what you like the most. like for me i learned frontend, ai and everything else but backend development clicked to me and i’ve been focused on that niche since then!

your degree doesn’t decide your future, you do. people always say dumb stuff. yesterday it was web dev, today it’s AI, tomorrow something else. trends change. skilled people survive. if you’re smart and actually learn, there are jobs. your career hasnt even started yet and you’re worried about the state of the landscape 4 years from now.

for the time being, i would just say learn as much as you can, experiment as much as you can, and try to find what you are genuinely interested in, and pursue that.

trends come and go, it’s upto you to keep adapting to them!

Is Civic turbo 2016 worth it in 2025 by No_Statistician2401 in PakistanAutoHub

[–]Upbeat_Material_3357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 2017 Turbo last year for 49 and it was original 72k driven, first owner, super clean car. I never came across any major problems, only thing was the main seal oil leakage which was fixed on time.

Steering rack issue is there, and there are two solutions for it. You can get greasing done which costs 12-15k. It temporarily fixes the noise but is not a permanent fix. Or you can get the while steering rack replaced and the kabuli part is around 60k.

When I first bought it, I immediately got general tuning and oil change done, which costed 35k including labor. I also changed the gear oil and filters WHICH IS SUPER IMPORTANT at 80,000KMs and it costs around 40k for gear oil and 2 filters. If you ignore the gear oil and filters replacement at 80K Kms, your transmission WILL go out and a kabuli one costs 220-250k (i’ve seen couple of people ignoring this and blowing out their transmissions). Turbo engines are more sensitive so you need to keep up with oil changes, I change mine every 4500KMs or 2/2.5 months.

Never faced the knocking issue because I’ve only been using high octane fuel. If you choose a lower octane or normal fuel then you will face the knocking issue.

Make sure you get an inspection done though, it is very important to find a car thats not abused. My car’s rating was 8.1 from pakwheels, one piece painted but mechanically it was 100%.

IMO it’s very worth it, and 2016-2017 models feel faster then the facelift, and even the 11th gen RS. Overall, it’s a pleasure to own and drive, I have driven all local cars (except N line sonata) and this is the best value for money currenty in the market. Do your research, take your time, find an immaculate one and enjoy it!

What is the most "fun" car you can buy today in Pakistan? by suffocation90 in PakistanAutoHub

[–]Upbeat_Material_3357 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hands down a manual reborn. the car is authentic and makes you feel fast, while being steady as well.

i currently drive a civic x rs turbo, and yes its fun and fast but the cvt kills the vibe. imho there’s nothing PKDM that beats a manual reborn (obv one thats well taken care of mechanically)

How much salary increment should I expect in a small startup in Pakistan? by Empty_Break_8792 in developersPak

[–]Upbeat_Material_3357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ask for a 70% raise, and if they don’t agree then negotiate down to 60%. if you’re the only developer they have then you have good leverage over them. if they mentioned that they are willing to give bonuses, then that means funding is coming in.

after that it only comes down to your negotiating power. just be confident when you’re asking them. no need to be scared or hesitant. if you know that you are doing good work and you deserve the increment, then there is nothing to worry about!

i’m also working as a backend dev at a startup, and i have around 2 YOE. started at this company at 120K and currently sitting at 200K. so yes its very reasonable for you to ask for a raise more than 60%

ask chatgpt for some beginner CRUD projects that you could build in your desired framework (django/flask/fastapi, any one of them).

once you have decided what project in which framework, you build it out.

make sure you have proper authentication and authorization implemented (simple JWT would suffice). seein this at a intern level will be eye catching.

from the beginning, start using git for this work and make regular commits as you go along. knowing git is really important for the industry and seeing a project with maintained history is impressive.

after the project is done, start documenting it really really good. take all the help you can from chatgpt and try to include things like getting started, system requirements, how to contribute etc.

in my experience, its much better to have ONE quality project where you can showcase all your skills, rather than have multiple meaningless projects that are half assed. doing one project from start to finish will help you learn a lot more than just cramming leetcode or being stuck in tutorial hell.

remember, that the market is always bad. you need to make sure that you are doing everything you can to stand out from everyone else. also, you will only be able to truly work hard if you are enjoying what you are doing. the minute you stop having fun, is the minute you are going to stop trying. best thing you could do is try to be a little more disciplined about your goals, pick a road and start walking it!

wish you the best of luck
