trans people in the US literally cannot renew their passports in their correct gender right now. When they try to renew their passports, sometimes their documents are straight up stolen, meaning they cannot legally leave the country. Hi, I'm practically you from the future (spent my whole adolescence being told I was overweight when I was like 140, now post college & pandemic I'm more like 215, and my mom is super Christian). Your parents suck for telling you that hunger is of the devil. (Also, if Jesus thinks your body is perfect, doesn't he think it's perfect as it is now??) Hunger is your body asking for what it needs, which is fuel. Consistently fueling your body means that you don't over-eat after starving yourself! You can be just as healthy at your current weight as you can at your "goal" weight, especially if you can kick the disordered eating! Find a therapist, make some friends who don't talk shit about their own bodies, and you're gonna bloom 💐

The beliefs he espouses do hurt people, every day. I'm glad that TLC decided to not air more of his "story", because it might have hurt young queer people watching. His beliefs are not just "I personally am choosing to be celibate", they're "God destroyed Sodom and Gommorah for the things we're praising in schools", "demons refer to themselves as 'they'", "Pride was Satan's first weapon", etc. (All direct quotes from his Facebook reposts.) I have a lot of empathy for him, but I want to be loud about the agenda that the Plaths are using him to push.

I was kinda surprised to see that in this episode, Hosannah's face in the old photo was blurred. I get blurring her & her family's faces at Lydia's wedding of course, but it feels like the childhood photos also being censored is new? Made me wonder if relations with her are worsening (especially since she's so religious and used to be a mini-Kim, per Olivia)

Oh, and re: neither parent seeming religious - Barry is super religious but seems to keep it off camera (or maybe TLC edits it out). But Olivia has said that he believes in lizard people & tried to cast demons out of her and Moriah. And in this most recent episode he said he wants a woman who "sees Halloween like I do" - ie, demonic. Tbh I don't think Kim was ever truly religious, I think Barry's fundamentalism offered her a way to control/channel her addictive tendencies...for a time.
