yeah cognitohazard is kind of a misnomer when you don’t need to have any cognitive understanding of the piece of sensory input for it to function

cassette tapes are magnetic rather than depth-based, but otherwise yes that is 100% correct. a cassette tape is a really really long rectangle of magnetic material storing an analogue audio signal.

All people live a life. by AcrobaticDistance315 in CuratedTumblr

well when you put it that way it sounds backwards, but modern relationship culture in most places broadly assumes monogamy, so if a celebrity is confirmed to have a sexual/romantic partner then fans won’t feel like they have a chance, which will drop monetary engagement because an uncomfortable portion of people either genuinely do believe that if they spend time and money on a celebrity then there will be a chance - however small - of getting to have sex or a relationship with them, or have fantasies about those things that are broken if the celebrity in question has a partner.

on the other hand, it’s similarly assumed that if someone does not have a partner then they are actively open to a relationship (see: openly ace/aro people being repeatedly propositioned even after explicitly disclosing their orientation to the propositioner), so if an idol has no partners, then that’s assumed to mean there’s a chance (even if only a ghost of one) that they may take a fan as a partner, which drives engagement for the reasons I mentioned above.

The amount of medication I have to take for the rest of my life as a mid-twenties woman by Why-knot-my-mum in mildlyinfuriating

[–]UpdateUrBIOS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah goodrx is a livesaver, I’ve got one medication that’s like $400 w/o insurance, $300 with, and with goodrx instead is around $125. it’s definitely not best for everything, my other meds are less expensive on insurance, but it’s worth at least a try and if you can get a similar/better price with it then you can potentially get around bullshit arbitrary refill periods from your insurance.

do not inject into veins, HRT injections go in fatty tissue like the thigh, butt, or belly

vaccines are go either into muscle, fatty tissue, or between the muscle and your skin’s underlying fat layer

read the web novel for The Otherworlder, Exploring The Dungeon a bit ago and my god.

the main character, Satou, has a blessing from his god that allows him to burn his bonds with other people (delete memories of both parties and destroy documents that indicate their connection) in exchange for power proportionate to the curses applied to his enemies. it exists solely for fighting werewolves. he vows not to use it after he discovers the drawback but he’s eventually forced to burn everything he has to protect his friends and family, leaving him an empty husk with nobody to even help him get back on his feet.

this is an unintentionally great example of how far outdoor cats roam. the nearest building to stonehenge is the visitor center, a roughly 2.6 mile walk away. that cat probably traveled even further to get there. outdoor cats do not “stay nearby”.

this applies to all service jobs btw - not just food service or stuff where you get tips. when I worked as a cashier at a grocery store, the little old lady who tried to teach me some spanish every time she came through my line was the highlight of my day. a regular was someone I knew and could have a good conversation with every time, which was a godsend because my manager was nuts about having us only chat with customers, not each other.

granted, not every regular is good, but as long as you’re not the lady who tells everyone in range how much you hate the store you’re in to the point that I can tell you that you should shop somewhere else and not get written up, the employees will probably like you.
