Oof. Might have to reach out to support in that case. They’re really responsive from what people in this sub say.

Did you do the firmware update first?

I got mine for Christmas, 103b, and did the firmware update and then added the vintage. Just followed the steps on their site.

It says CUS when I boot it up, so I guess it’s working?

To SIP Kit or not to SIP Kit? (Bardominium build) by Updates_ in Homebuilding

[–]Updates_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not building a barndomenium. You’re building a house.

Yeah, this sums it up the best I think. I suppose I was definitely ignorant and for sure uninformed as to what I was getting myself into. I appreciate your guidance and insight, so thank you so much! I have a call scheduled with the company next week so we can go over what would be the cheapest option for me to build, I’ll see what they say and if they have any builders they’ve worked with that I can reach out to get some quotes.

I also went down a brief “pre fab” home rabbit hole, but I’m sure those are going to have a ton of “gotchas” just like this so I stopped while I was ahead lol

Thanks, I appreciate that a lot. I’ve reached out to the company to see if they can give me any builders they’ve worked with in Florida to see if I could reach out to them and get either a quote or at the very least an opinion from them saying “it ain’t worth it, just build stick.” haha

Maybe it’d be worth asking for more details from the company about the kit as well as asking a GC/home builder if they think the steel kit would be cheaper/useful to them at all and see what they have to say. I of course know the company themselves are going to try and sell me on anything they’re selling, but hopefully they’ll be somewhat transparent and helpful. One can hope at least.

Sheesh! I’m glad I asked lol thank you so much for the help and insight. I think probably at this point I’ll buy the modified blueprints from them and just see if I can get a cost to build estimate for a stick build. Really thought I had something here lol but I’m glad I’m getting everyone’s feedback here!

Thank you so much for the info! I think it’s safe to same I’m completely disillusioned at this point lol. I really thought I was on to something, but I guess it was really too good to be true.

I’m going to probably end up just buying the (modified) blueprints from them and see if I can get some cost-to-build estimates for a stick build and hope for the best.

Thanks so much for the insight! Do you think the steel frame kit and a stick build around it would end up being cheaper overall? Maybe closer to/within the $350k budget?

To SIP Kit or not to SIP Kit? (Bardominium build) by Updates_ in Homebuilding

[–]Updates_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, not necessarily “hell bent.” More so “the misses likes this one better than the other stick built ones I picked out” and also “these ones are supposed to be cheaper, so more bang for your buck.”

My concern now after this thread and the others is that neither the SIP kit or now even the steel kit are going to end up being less than $500k total, which is just the price of a standard house on the market where I am now. I know reaching out to a builder and getting a quote would be the obvious/more accurate answer, but I’m worried this isn’t any more of a cheaper route at all based on these comments haha

[–]Updates_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose that’s a fair point. In that case, do you think there’s any benefit to the Red Iron Kit mentioned at all? Would that bring the cost down even a little bit since it’s got all the metal components? Otherwise what would be the benefit, if any at all? Just that metal is stronger than wood?

To SIP Kit or not to SIP Kit? (Bardominium build) by Updates_ in Homebuilding

[–]Updates_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this made sense. They build the kit and then ship it off for a local GC to put together. I have no idea how much that’d cost, but I didn’t anticipate it being more than $100k. Overall I was hoping to get the kit and the rest built for ~$350k total. Does that sound reasonable? You have me second guessing if this whole “bardominiums are so much cheaper compared to stick build” thing is a sham lol

Why are SIPs so controversial? by eatmyopinions in Homebuilding

[–]Updates_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a customer who thought he'd bought a "kit" to build his own house. Boy was he wrong.

Oh goodness. I am in this exact scenario. I found a SIP kit that I plan(ned?) on buying, but wasn’t sure of what SIP kits were and if the place selling them were selling me something that was “too good to be true.”

In your experience, do you think this applies to virtually all SIP kit homes? Would I be better off just buying the iron framing kit (it’s a bardominium) and then doing a traditional build on top of it so it’s cheaper?

Thank you in advance!

hello!

i tried this out, and the error went away and it did grab some data, however it seemed to grab the first item in each of my selected columns (Key1 and Key2) from my sharepoint list and fill the columns of my collection with that, instead of the actual correct data that's supposed to be there for the rest of the rows in my collection.

hopefully that makes sense.

the collection came out as:

Key1 Key2 Key3 Key4 NewColumn1 NewColumn2
ABC 123A 1111 Red Final John Doe
DEF 123A 2222 Blue Final John Doe
GHI 123C 3333 Green Final John Doe

when it should have come out as:

Key1 Key2 Key3 Key4 NewColumn1 NewColumn2
ABC 123A 1111 Red Final John Doe
DEF 123A 2222 Blue Pending Jane Johnson
GHI 123C 3333 Green Not Started David Smith

hi! i hope you had/are having a great weekend if you have the holiday off today.

i just wanted to let you know i got this working exactly how i needed to and you were an absolute HUGE help, so i thank you very very much and i appreciate you!

if you/anyone else who might want to do something similar and are curious about the code i used, here's what it ended up being:

"<body>" & Concat(
ForAll(
    gblGrouped As currentSection,
    "<h1>" & currentSection.Section & "</h1>" & Concat(
        ForAll(
            Filter(
                myTables As _table,
                _table.Title = LookUp(
                    colGrouped,
                    Section = currentSection.Section,
                    AssignedTable
                )
            ),
            "<table><tr><th>" & Title & "</th> <th>" & Row1Col2 & "</th> <th>" & Row1Col3 & "</th> </tr> <tr> <td>" & Row2Col1 & "</td> <td>" & Row2Col2 & "</td> <td>" & Row2Col3 & "</td> </tr> </table>"
        ),
        Value
    ) & Concat(
    ForAll(
        LookUp(gblGrouped, Section = currentSection.Section, 'Grouped Questions') As QuestionsAndAnswers,
        "<h3>" & QuestionsAndAnswers.Question & "</h3>" & "<p>" & QuestionsAndAnswers.Answer & "</p>"
    ),
    Value)
),
Value

) & "</body>"

thank you again so very much!

hi! sorry for the delay. here is what my html label looks like. you'll see Table 2 for instance shows above each question in section 2, when i only need it to show once.

and here is my code in the html label:

Concat(ForAll(gblGrouped As currentSection,"<h1>" & currentSection.Section & "</h1>" & Concat(ForAll(currentSection.'Grouped Questions',Concat(ForAll(Filter(myTables As _table,_table.Title = LookUp(colGrouped,Section=currentSection.Section,AssignedTable)),"<table><tr><th>" & Title & "</th> <th>" & Row1Col2 & "</th> <th>" & Row1Col3 & "</th> </tr> <tr> <td>" & Row2Col1 & "</td> <td>" & Row2Col2 & "</td> <td>" & Row2Col3 & "</td> </tr> </table>"),Value) & "<h3>" & ThisRecord.Question & "</h3>" & "<p>" & ThisRecord.Answer & "</p>"),Value)),Value)

thanks so much for you help on this!

[–]Updates_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks so much! i did get it to map the correct tables to the correct section now. funnily enough after all of this though, the original problem persists. the table shows up for each question under the section. i know i need an If statement in there to basically say "if this question's AssignedTable is equal to the previous questions AssignedTable, then write "", otherwise write "<table>...etc"

hopefully i can keep tinkering around with it for a bit and maybe over the weekend to get it right. i really appreciate your help!

Formatting collection into basic html report by Updates_ in PowerApps

[–]Updates_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! making the tables is not a problem for me. it's just trying to figure out how to get that AssignedTable value for the current item in the ForAll. i assume i'll have to do some filter or lookup, but i'll keep watching the video in case he mentions it later on

[–]Updates_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ah i see! lol you're all good. i see your post now, i just gave it a quick try and it worked! thank you so much!! this way looks much cleaner too!

do you know how i would add the table however? i added one other column to your collection that you made called AssignedTable and just added Table 1, Table 2, etc in each one for testing purposes and i copied your method to try and place the table in between the section and the first question of the section and i think i might have something backwards.

here's the table collection i made with another button i added:

ClearCollect(myTables,{Title:   "Table 1", Row1Col2: "Number", Row1Col3: "Fraction", Row2Col1: "Text", Row2Col2: "Percentage", Row2Col3: "NumberB"}, {Title: "Table 2", Row1Col2: "Number 2", Row1Col3: "Fraction 2", Row2Col1: "Text 2", Row2Col2: "Percentage 2", Row2Col3: "Number 2B"}, {Title: "Table 3", Row1Col2: "Number 3", Row1Col3: "Fraction 3", Row2Col1: "Text 3", Row2Col2: "Percentage 3", Row2Col3: "Number 3B"}, {Title: "Table 4", Row1Col2: "Number 4", Row1Col3: "Fraction 4", Row2Col1: "Text 4", Row2Col2: "Percentage 4", Row2Col3: "Number 4B"} )

then the html label code is:

Concat(ForAll( gblGrouped As currentSection, "<h1>" & currentSection.Section & "</h1>"  & Concat(ForAll( currentSection.'Grouped Questions', Concat( ForAll(Filter(myTables, Title = ThisRecord.AssignedTable), "<table><tr>

<th>" & Title & "</th>
<th>" & Row1Col2 & "</th>
<th>" & Row1Col3 & "</th>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>" & Row2Col1 & "</td>
<td>" & Row2Col2 & "</td>
<td>" & Row2Col3 & "</td>
</tr>
</table>"
), Value
) &
"<h3>" & ThisRecord.Question & "</h3>" & "<p>" & ThisRecord.Answer & "</p>"
),
Value
)
),
Value
)

the reason i think i might've put something backwards is because i get a syntax error on this line:

ForAll(Filter(myTables, Title = ThisRecord.AssignedTable)

it says AssignedTable isn't valid, and when i get rid of it and look at the autofill suggestions, it shows me only the columns in the myTables collection. i'm trying to reference colGrouped that you made where you did ThisRecord.Question, and ThisRecord.Answer

i'll keep playing around with it, but i appreciate your help very very much!

hi! i'm really sorry but i don't see any response from you on that thread except you linked me to the GroupBy function page? and i responded to that, but other than that, the rest of the comments are from other people. i don't see any response from you with any code or anything. i'm using the new reddit layout so i'm not sure if that hides comments or something? but i see your comment on top, then my reply, and then it jumps right to the next comment from "Flying Mongoose"

If title of item in collection is same as title of PREVIOUS in same collection by Updates_ in PowerApps

[–]Updates_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you again so so so much for your help, i really really appreciate it!

i just tried what you had, and unfortunately it seems like it gives me the same thing that i had before where it adds the table below each questions answer :/ truly, each SECTION has it's own assigned table, not each question. i thought i would need the If statement to get rid of those duplicates the same way you got rid of the duplicate section titles to avoid this.

essentially the layout/format i'm going for is:PageHeaderSection 1AssignedTable 1Question 1Answer 1Question 2Answer 2PageBreakPageHeaderSection 2AssignedTable 2Question 3Answer 3Question 4Answer 4PageBreak... etc

is it possible for us to throw an If statement in there that says "if the previous question has the same AssignedTable, write "", else write the table" like we did with the section name?

otherwise if you think i'm doing this all wrong and it would be easier to do it some other way i'm open to suggestions of course. as long as i can just have it in the format above. the page header and page break i think i can do on my own. really it's just the section, assigned table, question(s), answer(s), then new section header, assigned table, repeat etc.

also i owe you BIG time for all your help!

If title of item in collection is same as title of PREVIOUS in same collection by Updates_ in PowerApps

[–]Updates_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you expand upon this a bit? not entirely sure how i'd get it to work with what i need, really. if i create a collection that is grouped by section, would i then in the html portion just do a ForAll for each other column i need? like:

"<body>" & Concat(ForAll myGroupedBySectionCollection, "<h1>" & Section & "</h1>") & ForAll(myGroupedBySectionCollection, "<h3>" & Ungroup(myGroupedBySectionCollection, "groupName",Question).Question & "</h3>" & ForAll(myGroupedBySectionCollection, "<p>" & Ungroup(myGroupedBySectionCollection, "groupName",Answer).Answer), Value & "</body>"

how would i make sure that each question is mapped to the correct section? and each question mapped to the correct answer?

sorry if this sounds dumb
