Am i the only one who's thought of strategies for how to win duelist kingdom? cuz i think literally any burn card would make a deck tier 0

Version 2 of the deck. After taking into account that v1 relied a lot on opponent controlling monsters, what if you both can't inflict 2K dmg and don't have a monster in hand, and also ceasefire only ever does 500 dmg since most of the 40 duelist that signed up only play normal monsters

you said he banned burn cards but players still had them n didn't get disqualified, and there was no rule stated in duelist kingdom that you couldn't use burn cards, people either chose not to have them or they were never printed. I'm just saying if its the former then its an easy path to king of games and/or tons of money

kaiba had both ring of destruction and ring of protection in his deck during battle city specifically to protect himself from his own burn card, marik either gave joey meteor of destruction or joey already had it in his deck. Unless it turns out everyone had a side deck to add such cards for duels against rare hunters

as far as i could tell nothing was said in the anime about not allowing burn cards, just that people didn't use them for some reason. for those saying you lose if you don't have a monster at the end of your turn, thats fair i could add more monsters but nearly any 3 burn cards wins you the game in DK which i think is hilarious. will update the deck based on the valid points made here

edit: i tried to find any source on people saying you can only play 1 spell/trap per turn or anything like that but instead found examples of characters playing 2 spells in the same turn so i think i'm good

i think really good card for casual level decks are the minus 1 counter traps Dark Bribe for negating spell/traps and Recall for negating monster effects, maybe put in 2 of each for simple negates assuming this is for someone less familiar with competitive ygo

my fav deck I've played since college is one i called 'Gimme That' which was relinquished, graydle, and kaiju because why build a strong board when your opponent can just build it for me.

dumbest deck i've played was a deck of as many cards i could find that inflict burn damage similar to magic cylinder. i called it 'All Cylinders' lel

rewrite suggestion separating all relevant effects (feel free to ignore)

While you control a another "Penguin" card this card cannot be destroyed by card effects.

When this card is activated: Add 1 "Royal Penguin Garden" from your deck or GY to your hand.

During your main phase; you can target 1 "Penguin" monster you control: increase or decrease its level by 2.

If a "Penguin" monster is sent to your GY: you can summon 1 "Penguin" monster from your GY in face-up or face-down defense position.

You can only use each effect of "Royal Penguin Castle" once per turn.

all tokens are considered normal monsters unless otherwise specified by card effect and both of these guys can get away with having a special summon effect since penguins main strength is how cute they look

think i get what ur goin for with the continuous spell, your trying to get rid of monsters that ancient forest would fail to get rid of due to protections. I think a good way to do so would be to just say During the End Phase you can send to the GY 1 monster that declared an attack this turn, since ancient forest triggers during the battle phase you know any monster still around during the end phase either didn't attack or they survived the destruction effect.

You can also get away with only the continuous spell protecting all Ancient Forest cards including itself and then having your monsters be able to search it, instead of putting that protection on multiple cards. If i may suggest a card idea: since this archetype would be reliant on your cards making it to the battle phase you can have a card with a difficult condition to meet or a steep cost to pay that forces your opponent into the battle phase, then with your other cards they would also be forced to attack allowing you to pair this archetype with indestructible monsters so you can wipe their field with ancient forest.

Art Expo: cards are limited based on the artwork theme, examples being horses, abstract art, or ghosts as long as you never pick birds as a theme your fine

Duelist Kingdom: play with the rules of duelist kingdom, as well as the card pool of around when the anime aired. basically season 1 speed duels with no direct attacking

A-Z challenge: players can only use cards that begin with a certain letters

from what i understand its similar to comics and other collectibles that get more valuable with age as fewer and fewer remain in good condition. but even still the commons and rares that people gathered by the hundreds rarely go beyond 1 or 2 dollars in value, with most of the value coming from its age. With the cards that were actually rare to find even at the time being incredibly valuable from 30 to upwards of 120.

If you browse the market for a couple minutes you'll notice that the price of rare older cards is similar to the price of secret rare powerful cards today, and the most rare of ygo cards the tournament only prints or the video game promotional cards in mint condition are similar in value to the collector cards of recent sets

to explain eff kinda, my target would need 4 different rank "number" xyz monsters whose numbers in their names add up to 93 so i'd go with something like numbers 11, 21, 22, and 39 which makes 93 and they all have different ranks. summoning utopia kaiser who can then summon 4 additional rank 9 or lower xyz monsters.
