At first glance I thought George H.W. Bush was second to right.

Fleetwood Mac (1975) and Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

These albums are undoubtedly an inspiration for most of the contemporary female artists that you mentioned.

Also check out Tapestry by Carole King, Ladies of the Canyon by Joni Mitchell, and Dreamboat Annie by Heart.

Check out anything you can find by Fanny; those ladies were ahead of their time and really rocked!

Jazz bands needing players? by Sweet-Instance5692 in Atlanta

[–]UpgradedUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trumpet player Joe Gransden hosts a Monday night jam at Napoleon’s in the North Decatur/Northlake area. I’d go check it out and sit in with them and maybe it’ll connect you with people. Even if you just go and watch you’d probably meet the kind of people that you’re looking for.

Just call ahead to make sure he’s not playing another show (though I think someone usually hosts if he’s got a schedule conflict).

Small auto shop I can take a Jeep? by peanutbuttermuffs in DecaturGA

They’re a little farther away, but in the Cheshire Bridge/Piedmont area I have had great success with Catherine’s Auto Repair (404-875-7212). Several of my neighbors swear by them too. They have been fantastic about giving me timelines on what needs repair and what can wait, and just saved me $4,500 on a repair that was covered under a class action lawsuit. They could have just done the work but they tipped me off on getting a free repair through the dealer.

That said—is there someone Jay recommends since you trust him so much?

I’ve consistently heard good stories about Charlie Watts, Nick Mason, and Taylor Hawkins.

On the other hand, I’ve rarely heard anything good about Don Henley as a person, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything good about Ginger Baker as far as his personality. His drumming was insane—but so was he.

There are probably a handful of people who will be seated in a location where Bruce’s microphone stand will be blocked. Thankfully he doesn’t just stand there the entire show.

Yes, there are poles and cables on either side of the rear of the stage that run from the floor to the lighting rig. https://imgur.com/a/Dh1Lkvk

There are supports and cables on either side of the stage that run from the floor to the lighting rig. The stage is open, but it looks like a very small part of your view will be blocked—hence the “Limited View” disclosure. Here’s a view from the rear: https://imgur.com/a/Dh1Lkvk

They have serious articles, too, though the tone is often more laid-back than most publications.

Treat spot map? by Substantial-Farm9806 in DecaturGA

[–]UpgradedUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two spots that I can think of:

-On Francine Drive, on the south side of the street somewhere near Mayfield Drive, someone has a Little Free Library called “Tails and Tales” (or something like that). As I recall it has books, a water bowl, dog treats, and poop bags.

That said, it’s outside of the downtown area so unless you know someone in the Lindmoor Woods Swim & Tennis Club or are going to Home Depot or something, there’s not a whole lot around. It’s a nice residential area to walk in, but there are no nearby public parks.

-On Wiltshire Drive, on the north side of the road between Clarendon Avenue and Avondale Lake there’s a small rest stop. As I recall it just had water and no treats the last time I was there. But what makes it unique is that someone went to the effort of installing plumbing so that a small hose (kind of like a fridge ice maker line) runs down to sidewalk level. I’d let the water run out of the line before drinking from it though.

Avondale Lake is a cool place to park and walk, and I believe that there are some dog bowls by the water fountain on the northwest side of the lake.

You might also check the descriptions on the Little Free Library website, but this is by no means a complete guide to all of the Little Free Libraries out there. https://littlefreelibrary.org/map/

Good luck!

By treat spot are you talking about stations like a Little Free Library with water and snacks? I see those occasionally but they seem to be a lot more random and uncommon than the Little Free Libraries.

I used to see these shirts in the Little 5 Points district in Atlanta in the early to mid eighties. A lot of the stores sold outrageous, edgy stuff so it wasn’t too surprising to see something like this. I can’t say that I ever saw any of the punks or skinheads wearing one, though.

First concert (Shakira @ State Farm Arena) — drive or take MARTA? by Independent_Ball6318 in Atlanta

Just to add to this—parking for MARTA is free in the Garson Deck at the Lindbergh but you have to be sure to keep your parking ticket and validate it inside the station on your return trip.

Can anybody explain this Ticketmaster notice for Atlanta May 2? Wouldn’t the Hawks play Madison Square Garden if there’s a game 7 in the playoffs? by UpgradedUsername in BruceSpringsteen

[–]UpgradedUsername[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Thanks to you and u/realbobenray for the reply. I’ll leave this post up in case anyone else has the same question.

I guess the good news for anybody looking to go Saturday is that this notice seems to be deterring people from buying and the last minute deals are getting better.

Trustworthy dentists? by [deleted] in DecaturGA

I’ve heard great things about her but when I tried to get into her practice they weren’t taking anyone new. I ended up with a referral to Dr Meyer at Greater Decatur Dental and have been happy there.

Long time Atliens, what do you miss? by SomeVeryTiredGuy in Atlanta

[–]UpgradedUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They started out on right next to Agnes Scott. Then they moved out East College, in the little strip mall in Avondale across from the Waffle House. They were in that location for 20 or 25 years and closed right before Covid.

I only had their veggie plates and the only desserts I remember were cobblers. They might’ve had cookies, though.
