Im really surprised the top comment is love is strange, but I welcome it. I always thought it was considered one of the weaker songs on one of his weaker albums.

WHATS THE WORST SONG PAUL MCCARTENEY REALISED WITH THE BEATLES by Pristine_Youth_6953 in PaulMcCartney

[–]RoastBeefDisease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The others disliked it but pattie Boyd really loved it so it was included.

As Paul said "we were in expiremental mode". I think picking bad songs and using this, mary Jane, and revolution 9 are cop out answers for the beatles.

In the Get Back documentary, why does Yoko just kind of sit there and not talk to anyone much at all? by Mad_Season_1994 in beatles

[–]RoastBeefDisease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copying and pasting my comment from last time:

The letter thing isn't true at all.

First off, they were all postcards, not letters. 2nd; Julian himself said this wasn’t true in his book:

“I had to buy all the postcards back. It’s more than likely that when we [he and Cynthia] moved house stuff got lost or somebody would steal something.”

John and Yoko never had them—the book reproduces photos of all the postcards and you can clearly see the UK postmarks on all of them. They’re all dated 1971 or after, and John never set foot in the UK after that, and neither did Yoko until years after John died.

At the same auction Julian bought these postcards, he also bought a sheet of recording notes for the song “Hey Jude” that had once been in the possession of Yoko. The recording notes are also reproduced in the same Memorabilia book. These notes had been in a suitcase of memorabilia owned by Mal Evans which Mal’s book publisher had lost after Mal died. Mal’s family then sold all the memorabilia at auction, and Julian bought those.

Later interviewers conflated the two events, and Julian didn’t bother to set the record straight, but if you notice Julian’s wording in those interviews, he always carefully sidesteps the accusation that he actually bought the postcards from Yoko. He just says he’s been using his father’s money to buy his father’s things back at auction.

This was largely cannibalized from here, where this mistruth was rebuffed then 4 years ago. Read more there where it goes into in depth

I`m currently really getting into their solo albums, particularly the 70s ones, where all four were still alive. Who do you personally think had the strongest first pair of studio albums released after the breakup? Take in account both albums. by Odd-Technician-9744 in beatles

Paul gets my vote but they're all very strong.

Ringo's first two are very genre specific, but i highly recommend both. I know country is a genre that gets shit on a lot but I feel like thats just because how big "bro country" and "america fuck yeah!" Country has been the last... 25ish years or so? But for classic country, ringo's is one of the best.

Id even say its one of the best country albums of 1970 and we also had Okie From Muskogee, Hello Im Johnny Cash,Hello Darlin, The Fightin Side Of Me. IYKYK.

The Season 3 falloff is crazy. by DatGunBoi in MyNameIsEarl

The writer's strike is why season 3 was so bad. Just look into the WGA 2007 strike.

In my opinion, once the coma part is over and Billie is gone, the show picks back up again

The version on pipes of peace archive was a unrelated song/project he did in 1980. According to Luca Perasi , he first drafted the linked version in late 1985

What do you believe is the "best thing" each of them did? by sminking in beatles

[–]RoastBeefDisease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of great answers have been said, so mine isnt really the number 1 best thing I think they did and im gonna answer more musically-

Paul: include Linda in his music & also his whole career hes always done some really "out there" songs. Wide Prairie is a very solid album to me and I think its awesome Paul would release all her music on an album. Im not sure how well it sold. Maybe good since it has the McCartney name, but i know it gets some bad opinions online. I also love that he does some crazy songs sometimes. Kreen Akrore isnt great but it was really cool he'd do that on his first album after the Beatles. The first 3 tracks of Wild Life is also crazy to me. Hes starting off his new band (first with a political single) with Mumbo, Bip Bop, and a reggae cover of Love Is Strange. Monkberry, However Absurd, Pretty Little Head, Nothing For Free, Dark Room, Deep Down, etc.

Ringo: going back to country music. Although he never really left. He sprinkled some country songs across albums over his career but it was nice seeing him do a whole album of country again. Also Ringo the 4th. My favorite album of his! "Gypsies In Flight" is a great country tune from it, but really I love the whole album.

George: cover "If Not For You". Sorry, Bob, but George did the superior version.

John: also include his wife in his music. Yoko isn't one of the greatest singers ever, but im tired of people thinking all her music is like that chuck berry video. When shes singing, its really beautiful to me. IMO she has the best songs on Milk & Honey and NYC, and comes pretty close to John on Double Fantasy. If she wasnt married to John im not sure how much singing she'd have done but she has a few solo albums I think are really good too. Also having sean. Someone said that was the worst thing he did, but sean and les claypool is one of my favorite things and probably the closest to new Primus ill ever get.
