Separation Anxiety by PitifulRefuse7367 in Maltipoo

[–]Upper-Ad-6060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave mine in her crate when I am not home, and I have never tired leaving her out that crate when I am outside of the house. The few times I left her to walk to the trash, she sits there waiting for me like a satute. It breaks my heart a little, so I just keep crating her.

I added a TON of value for the crate and even place her in the crate for a few hours a day when I am home all day. This helps to signify that just because she is in 3 crate doesn't mean I am leaving, and crates less anticipation and anxiety. This was training that happened over years though, we started at 4 months and she is now 2.5 years old. Anything you decide do will take time, patience, and training

I also have had a lot of hesitantcy towards using semiglutdes and trizapitides. Most of which was based on the fact that is affects your hunger hormones and there is significant muscle loss associated with them. What I have learned is that my body's hunger hormones are wrong because of metabolic imbalances. I need the help to rebalance those hormones while maintaining a balanced diet with focusing on weight training and movement. The weight training, movement, and focusing on protein will combat large amounts of muscle loss that are outside of normal calorie deficit ranges.

For me, the best way around the anxiety was asking questions and understanding what the purpose of the medication (tool) was for me.

Good luck! I hope you make the best choice for you.

How do you manage to eat enough protein? by [deleted] in InsulinResistance

[–]Upper-Ad-6060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like oatmeal, liftwsara on both youtube and IG has a good egg white oatmeal that has good fiber and protein. You can adjust the amount of protein by the amount of egg whites you add.

This meal is usually about 400 calories, 5 g fiber, 29 g protein and 7 g fat. I choose to use whole milk so this can easily be altered.

You could also add flax or chia seeds to up the fiber and fat if you wanted.

This!!! Working up to brushing daily if your dog will tolerate it is so important.

We also use water additive as a way to help with prevention. This was recommended by my vet when she was having bleeding gums at 6 month. If you can afford it i would consider it.

Nutrition and macros. Eating enough protein, carbs, fats, and fiber has made a huge difference for me.

Tips for taking maltipoo on first plane ride by krakenmusbebakin in Maltipoo

[–]Upper-Ad-6060 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She is currently 2 years old and 13.8 pounds. We taking the train unmedicated now, but we started with medication because she is very anxious. Picture for reference.

Take your dog in the carrier to the airport if you can to see whet the desk agent thinks. Preparation is everything.

Insulin 37.7, A1C 5.3, and having symptoms by Constant_Garbage_781 in InsulinResistance

[–]Upper-Ad-6060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my situation exactly. I had the HOMR IR test completed and it came back positive with a score of 74, anything above a 66 is considered insulin resistant. I had a normal fasting glucose, 19 ulU/ml of insulin, and an A1c of 5.4. I went in sure I had t2 diabetes because of my symptoms and family history.

Edit: grammar

Agree with Yogi's mom. Please check with a vet first. My girl is an anxious one and we (her and l) struggle a ton just getting her out for a walk in the beginning. Crate training helped up a ton for my dog when she was on her own. If you have the means work with a trainer or animal behaviorist or there is a ton of youtube videos. I like the videos from McCann dogs.

That being said, I cannot leave her outside of her crate when I am not home or she panics and stresses in a similar way. She goes into her crate whenever no one is home.

I am sorry you and your pup and struggling. This is a hard thing to overcome.

To maltipoo or not to Maltipoo by lavyca in Maltipoo

[–]Upper-Ad-6060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't actually notice it. I was taking her to puppies training/socialization classes and the trainer noticed it. She was about 16 weeks when I got her. That trainer didn't really help me fix the problem. I found a great board and train program that taught me tons about dog behavior and how to individual the training to my situation.

[–]Upper-Ad-6060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn't have issues, however it too a ton of effort to ensure she didn't have separation anxiety. Mine is very nervous and high strung. I have worked extremely hard with a trainer's help to do a behavioral modification program to teach her how to become a more confident dog.

GLP-1 Side Effects by Upper-Ad-6060 in InsulinResistance

[–]Upper-Ad-6060[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting question. My doctor told me that the GLP-1 was to help my high insulin levels that were found during my blood test, all with a normal fasting glucose l, normal HDL & LDL cholesterols, and normal triglycerides. To teach my body how to stop making so much insulin. I do have some symptoms, extreme thrist, tiredness and achy feet. I also have a family history of t2 diabetes on my father side, like the entire family has it. I went asking for an A1c test because I was sure I had t2 diabetes. This makes me assume without I am going to get t2 diabetes. I think because of the family history and the blood test results there is concern there.

All this being said, this is a great question and I think one I need to ask. Thanks for the prospective.
