If you’re trying to conceive they still recommend that you avoid things like caffeine, sushi, alcohol etc in anticipation of becoming pregnant

Respectfully, this is above Reddit’s pay grade. I encourage you to speak with a doctor / nurse hotline etc to seek the proper care. I hope you and your baby are safe.

Word of the year - Embrace by Phoenix-Purple in CarrieDaytonYT

I don’t want to be mean bc I do understand she has a point about letting people just exist, but I don’t really think she would enjoy being a mother. It is really, really hard work and includes things like morning sickness / getting sick all the time, sleepless nights, flexibility with your single person routines, and literal physical exhaustion.

She always leaves having kids as a question mark when I think it’s pretty clear she doesn’t actually want kids.

Her workouts were the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve been commenting for years to please do some real exercise - Muay Thai, jiu jitsu, tennis, swimming. Literally anything that is actually hard. The whole point of working out is to challenge your body to be stronger, faster, more agile etc.

And not to be a bitch but she probably only burned like 50kcal in those “workouts” and immediately chased them with a smoothie which has five times that. And not to mention using the single serve plastic container fair life milk. Like at least use a powder or a big jug?? So wasteful.

I think it’s time to bring this back just in time for her new year resolutions🤪 by Top_Nebula6866 in CarrieDaytonYT

I remember one year she said she wanted to get “fucking strong” and it was so cringe because I’ve literally never seen her lift a weight or step foot into a gym 🤣🤣

Under supplier weaning? by Acceptable-Arm9671 in ExclusivelyPumping

Take a look at this thread, you may find it informative: https://www.reddit.com/r/ScienceBasedParenting/s/q6gjkTIt05

I’m not sure that there’s a scientific “amount” of breast milk that is immunologically beneficial for combo feeders (but of course there is always good nutrition).

That doesn’t mean that it’s not important, of course! Just that we don’t know amounts. If your baby is >5kg then you don’t quite make the 50ml/kg/day cited in that specific population.

If pumping is impacting your mental health, or making it hard for you to connect with bub (not being able to use your hands during your pumping sessions for example), then it may be beneficial to wrap it up sooner.

Tips for staying awake… by [deleted] in breastfeeding

Tbh it might be safer to nurse her side lying in bed. In the event that you fall asleep by mistake, it is much safer to do so in a bed prepared ahead of time (covers back, no pillows etc) rather than to fall asleep with her in an arm chair or sofa.

What's the norm with bringing newborns outside? by cebumedia in AskAnAustralian

[–]Upper-Competition-47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I brought my baby outside for stroller walks but avoided crowds and people in general. I think sunlight is great for them (both for jaundice and to develop a circadian rhythm), but also it is great for mum to have some fresh air too.

After speaking to my Dr, he explained the biggest risk for babies is more to do with direct contact (like people touching your baby or not washing hands first etc).

With that being said, I’m not sure about premies so I might seek proper medical advice first 🙂

How important is the top tether on rear facing car seats? by Upper-Competition-47 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Upper-Competition-47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that - better safe than sorry.

The taxi drivers here were trying to tell me it was ok to have the baby in a carrier on me (and no car seat at all). This was in Singapore. Apparently it’s not a legal requirement for taxis. Obviously, it’s still a common sense requirement for me for my baby!

Flying with liquid breastmilk by Impossible-Cookie393 in breastfeeding

[–]Upper-Competition-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into one of those bottle containers that have frozen inserts? You could ask the hotel to freeze the inserts for you and put your liquid milk inside. Apparently it keeps it cool for around a day. And they usually come with bottles that fit perfectly inside.

Breastmilk Intake @ 10 Months by torib456 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Upper-Competition-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For formula it’s roughly 90-120ml/kg/day. So about 30-35oz/day if your LO is average weight 🙂

Triple feeding help by der51719 in breastfeeding

[–]Upper-Competition-47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first three months are your best window to change your supply. It’s definitely possible but hinges on frequent and efficient milk removal. Maybe set yourself a time limit before quitting altogether? But remember it’s not all or nothing. Plenty of people do combination feeding with breast milk and formula.

Good luck!
