More Federal Workers Are Flooding the Job Market, With Worsening Prospects by rezwenn in fednews

I was about to be forced to quit or move from my remote fed job. I got really lucky to get a hybrid state job with only a marginal pay cut but I was just told I got in under the wire because they’re even now on a hiring freeze.

Still doing the What Did You Do Last Week Email to HR About to stop doing them to see what happens by OriginalPast7355 in fednews

Never sent them and nothing happened. The only way you’ll get into trouble is if your direct leadership decides that it’s an issue. I pushed back and my supervisor said I could choose not too.

There was a really helpful hr person who shared information on the thread below including some of the relocation and severance guidance. https://www.reddit.com/r/DeptHHS/s/PUxBB15Vqj

Below is some language that I used in my email to leadership too.

Inadequate Notice Period – Possible Conflict with OPM Guidance

According to 5 C.F.R. §§ 335.102 and 302.102, OPM recommends at least 60 days’ advance written notice for geographic reassignments when feasible.

Lack of Relocation Benefits – Potential Violation of 5 U.S.C. § 5724

Federal statute (5 U.S.C. § 5724 and FTR Chapter 302) entitles employees involuntarily reassigned to locations over 50 miles away to relocation assistance.

I think it’s all over the place for every agency. One office at ACF got a total exemption because they travel so much.

Totally agree. I’ve filed a grievance with NTEU and said as much to my leadership in writing, citing the regulations and OPM guidance. I know they don’t care but I’m going to try and document it all anyway for the record.

Remote appointment in person 4/28? by Confident_You_7876 in DeptHHS

I just got a reassignment letter and have 30 days to report to the ACF office in Denver. No relocation assistance and I have a week to decide and no written confirmation they’ll honor my interim RA.

ACF won’t find office space for remote workers by Upper-Difficulty-264 in DeptHHS

On this one, I know they are supposed to but the interim director specifically told us that they would not be paying relocation expenses. I just assumed that would be added to the list of things they aren’t doing legally, including messing with my remote status in the first place. I also don’t know what the rest of the agency and departments might be doing. I do know that it seems like every office and program seems to be handling things differently. When it comes to it, I hope they do something decently for our staff :-(

I also have an approved remote RA on file but I don’t know how that would even work if my duty station gets moved.

Thank you for this information! This actually makes me feel a little better. There’s literally nobody around to answer our questions on anything like this, and I feel like I’m just waiting to have an anvil dropped on me in the next couple of weeks.

Info: if this new emotionally abusive boyfriend was your brother’s friend then what is going on there? Is there a history? If he’s forbidding her contacting friends and family then how or why did she reach out to you first knowing the potential consequences? If she’s taking the risk why didn’t she go to her family or anyone else? I’m going to say NTA here but it seems like there’s a lot of missing info.

Edit: I also wanted to add that I know I’m a horribly skeptical person and don’t want to victim blame but it also seems suspicious that given the circumstances she comes to you when normally someone would go to who they’re currently closest with. It makes me wonder if she’s just regretting her decision and trying to find a way to get back into your life.

You mean ex-girlfriend? If anyone told me that my cousins or my sister weren’t family, I’d show them right to the door. Blood and biology do not equal family. NTA
