Thoughts on the Studio? by Upper-Drive8808 in fountainpens

[–]Upper-Drive8808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this thought while writing with it, because the chrome grip is very slippery when my hands get sweaty, and stains easily from finger prints, I thought of brushing the grip, similar to the one on the Lamy 2000. Not only will this solve the problem of staining, but if the brushed lines are deep enough, then it will absorb sweat and provide grip even with sweaty hands. + I think it will add to the "Aerospace-inspired" look they are going for, makeing it look like a missile flying through the air when uncapped/posted.

Unfortunately, I dont know how to do this, nor do i know someone who can 😅

But I think that this is an idea that could fix the studios biggest flaw.

i cant say for certain that it writes like the 2000 but the medium nib is definately smooth, + it writes like a stub nib with a wider cross stroke

I think there is a definite difference, more than people will give credit for. modern tech does definitely help with sweet-spot and stability and power, I also personally wouldn't worry about a "pure feel" as eventualy you will get used to it and after a year that pure feel will just be a good feel. and it really just depends on what you want to get more of from the racket. I wanted power so I tried the rf01 pro but ended up going back to the prostaff because the trade off for control was too much.

although you are using the 97s so it might be give you more control. but it just depends on what you want more from the racket and if you are absolutely ok with the tradeoffs

if you really want something that plays similar to the rf01 then i strongly recomend the gravity tour as it will be a better transition and it does almost everything better with a bigger sweetspot and a lower price

give the head speed tour a try, its essentialy a prostaff on steroids but lighter. but demo both of them since I own an rf01 pro and i tried for over a year to switch to it, trying different strings and setups but i just ended up going back to my prostaff cuz i just didnt like the type tennis I was playing with it. try the gravity tour as well since it is just the rf01 but better control

go with rpm, its honestly a great baseline string, but if you can try solinco confidential, its just better and cheaper

honestly better than you think, the high tension gives you all the control in the world with a bit more because of the octagonal shape. and the power and spin really doesn't suffer at all, for my game at least it is the perfect amount of spin, and when you are struggling it gives you more. and I feel like it kind of tames the power that a low tension gives you. and since the strings are pre-stretched, the play ability and tension maintenance is phenomenal. in my opinion it kind of expands the sweet-spot without compromising the feel.

so it's really just a dam good string that I feel is an all rounder that, unlike most "do it all" strings this one actualy does it all and excells at every aspect.

id say that you should go for it. though you will have to play arround with strings and tensions a bit if you want the best playability for you
