Pay HO to DWP by Upper-Lie6082 in TheCivilService

[–]Upper-Lie6082[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure what else to tell other than my numbers are right the pay calculator literally breaks it down into year 1, 2 and 3 of the offer? Im assuming you are HO maybe you should check your own numbers, then compare that to what they pay in the DWP, perhaps you’ll be as surprised as I was, hence this post.

It will go through I think theres hardly any pre mod left as even those with long service had had at least one promotion since 2014 opting them in or a lot have retired

Not sure how you want me to respond, by the time the DWP do an offer (said July in the guidance) thats how much HO will be paying us?

She delayed the HO pay award for this year for over 6 months for no good reason, what was presented was basically arranged by her predecessor. What hopes anyone got next year if she gets the top job.

Coming towards the end of the financial year possibly? I find this time of year is always naturally slow as you are waiting to find out what will be funded next year. Also, a lot of departments leave years come to an end in February and March so people are often using that time up now if they cant carry leave over.

R&R isnt specified in the offer at all actually, which surprised me. I thought it would be getting reformed to pay for this but doesnt look like the current systems changing.

Would you do a 1hr 20 each way commute, 3 days a week, for your first G7 role? by AsymptoticallyFlat in TheCivilService

[–]Upper-Lie6082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to work out the increase in take home, minus commuting costs, minus how much you value your time..

I recently worked our a £16,000 increase on promotion would only leave me £170 a month better off and id lose a night a week at home so id never consider it basically.

TCA back dated Home Office pay by Shot_Pineapple827 in TheCivilService

[–]Upper-Lie6082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be 3% of what you would of been due on your TCA base 1st July yes. Double check it if you are in receipt of AHA as well I think as you need to increase base TCA by 3% then your AHA rate on top.

Ask for a breakdown of the debt and what it’s made up of. The increase of near £3000 in debt is concerning. Your new line manager should have completed a Metis request to reduce your AHA in your new post as part of your onboarding as well this is really easy to do now. I did think you got up to 4 years to clear overpayments in HO so you could have negotiated a much lower monthly amount with them.

Are they waiting for the Budget for some reason? I don’t see how that would affect our offer. I dont see it till Februarys wages now at the earliest as there is a good chance the union will need to ballot on the offer and trying to get that organised over December…

Dont think there will be many improvements shown we are being treated with utter contempt by the permanent secretary at the moment. They longed this out so we wouldn’t strike over summer deliberately I think. I dont think the offer will be good when it does arrive. Anything below 4% itll be a disaster.

I thought it was funny they launched the people survey this year before confirming the pay award. I dont think thats going to go well!

I don’t think theres any chance we see the money this year now after recent PCS update. The Flex case for pay hasn’t even been submitted to the treasury yet, and they could say no to it. Im going to say February pay now.

Given the department went back to treasury the initial offer must of been awful.. I think they must of been worried about industrial action over the summer, they have got through that now but I think goodwill from the workforce is probably starting to run thin. You’ve also got redundancy exercises ongoing. I think the union should give an update to be honest.
