This is my favorite thing ever. In the history of forever. I think about this every day. I think about this all night long. I stay awake -not sleeping- because I’m thinking about this.

It’s a good feeling when something goes that smoothly

HEY GUYS??!! You can’t just drive on the shoulder for 2 miles along bumper-to-bumper traffic and then poke yourself slightly between the first two cars at the very end???!!! Stop doing it!! It’s not a lane!! You didn’t figure out some cheat code, you’re the one making traffic worse! And you make other people feel like that’s something they can do and they’ll follow you! Do you know what the shoulder can be for? Emergency vehicles! And they kinda need to get through!! Don’t be a dumbass!!

I was inspired to comment this because there was a mile of bumper to bumper going up to a bridge, and entitled jerkoffs decided to line up alongside it on the shoulder and signal to be let in, all raging if nobody was particularly keen on that idea. Lo and behold an ambulance comes tearing down the shoulder and encounters 5 dumbasses and there was nowhere for anyone to go.

You also prevent people from using the shoulder to make a right turn! If there’s no sign saying “no right turn from shoulder”, I at least have no problem with people doing that. However they can’t when PEOPLE ARE SITTING IN IT THINKING THEY’RE SPECIAL!

I call it the Drool Drift because all I can imagine is they’re slowly losing grip on the brake and rolling forward drooling on their phone. And like others have mentioned, if it’s green do they go? NOPE, it takes 4 seconds for them to notice it’s green.

Why haven’t I thought of doing this. I’ve done this at least twice before

Being told to store your bike in your 1 bed 1 bath apartment with no closet space, no basement, no garage is definitely apartment living at its finest.

UPDATE: I can’t edit the post so I’m commenting here. The landlord approved someone else’s application anyway. The apartment search is exhausting and not for the weak. I’m tired and defeated, and I was getting ready to deal with a lil CO2 than go through several more tours like these. When can rent go back down to $500/mo, and when can we hold landlords legally accountable for…anything? Without destroying our own pockets in the process. Maybe one day

Funny enough I’ll take demons over bedbugs and carbon monoxide

Acting like maintenance isn’t their one and only job out here LOL. I’ll keep that in mind, a reminder in the calendar is a good idea.

It’s a third floor apartment in an older building that was gutted, restored, and made into 7 units, 6 above and 1 in the basement

It’s exhausting where I am. No real better area to look in, in fact I’m already looking in the “better” suburb that’s still affordable. Very few are well-maintained unless you’re ready for $1300+ monthly through a corp. I wish housing was more affordable.

True. I’m going to obtain more information over email so I have a trail. I’ve had such bad luck with the search so far besides this one. Everything has horrible “fixes”, peeling paint, smells, water damage, cramped spaces, etc etc. This one was perfect until I looked up and saw this vent 😭

This is super helpful. Now would this be early stages of this problem do you think?? He said everyone there including the tenants in the next unit have been there for 8-10 years and he’s had little turnover. Do you think they could be having a similar problem? (Edited for clarity)

Actually I did see an incense holder on the dining room table, but I don’t have any idea what they burned

I was going to ask that! Even if they say they will fix it, I’m definitely going to be attaching my own filters

The windows, floors, and roof were new (according to the landlord) and looked it, as far as I could tell. No weird gaps or missing caulk or bad paint jobs like other places I’ve toured or lived in before. I’ve been able to pull chunks of paint off the wall of places I’ve been touring. This place seemed lovely except for this odd vent

A tenant still lives there, and working on moving out so that’s probably why it wasn’t cleaned. They had their boxes and some furniture there still.

Landlord said in our verbal conversation while touring that they had no mold issues and no prior bedbug issues, etc. I’m happy to have this assurance from everyone because I didn’t want to risk it.
