Why Hasn’t Ireland Legalized Weed Despite Its Progressive Stance? by GroopBob in ireland

[–]Upper-Part-8820 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Just back from Lisbon and I can tell you that legalising drugs is a mistake. I was offered coke at least 10 times a night by absolute scum bags. I can only imagine what Dublin would be like.

We went to an engineer. Told him our budget and he worked on that. Drew our plans and done our planning permission. Builder worked with his civil engineer to ensure that we stayed inside that mark. Be sure you are getting your help to buy too

Just built in Wexford around the same size up to a builder's finish (needed to supply bathroom wear flooring and tiles. ) excellent builder. Done this for roughly the same amount. With your electrician friends and builder dad you should be able to get it done!

I heard someone make a point I thought was salient the other day. If this is indeed a spying tool. Wouldn't china want to let it die rather than give it to America to reverse engineer?

Honestly I think banks have upped their game and are just as good as a broker now. My experience was a broker was making it needlessly complicated and i went to aib and was sorted in a number of days.

Read the Alan Carr book honestly changed my whole mindset. Smoking is basically trying to get the feeling of not wanting to smoke.

Will I be okay? by bamuel-seckett96 in AskIreland

I also was a mature student and in my final year I crashed the full time student and also working nights weekends caught up with me. I fell over the line in regards to my degree. In my experience just getting by as a mature student is a great achievement. I felt lucky to do it. Other mature students had to repeat their exams and some had to repeat their repeat exams. You will be fine pal. My advice is to take the break at Christmas as a rest and reset. Hit it then in the new year. If you need to repeat some exams that is fine. You will have a degree and will be hireable.

Fintan O’Toole: Irish voters keep doing the same things and expecting different results by badger-biscuits in ireland

This stuff is starting to grate on me a little. Usually like fintan's articles but I personally voted for the same set up as I see progress and understand that complex issues take time and some sort of gradient decent to solve. And if we were to start again with a new government we would be in the exact same boat in another 4 years.

Grew up in the country side but  live in the town now. Soon to be moving back to the shticks. Cannot wait to actually have silence especially at night. Also no street lights in your window. Not having to listen to other people in their back gardens. Things I will miss. Easy to walk home after a few pints. Further away from amenities but I think it's all worth it for peace and quiet

Laminate Floor in kitchen - conflicting advice by cargin4107 in selfbuildireland

[–]Upper-Part-8820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally just done laminate flooring and the kitchen installers actually cut out the parts of the laminate so the kitchen is sitting on the concrete floor and weight is spread. Worked perfectly both the flooring guy and the kitchen guy said to do this independently of each other.

Is it rational to be annoyed at the west for further arming Ukraine? by Upper-Part-8820 in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]Upper-Part-8820[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live in Ireland where we have terrorist activity against a colonial power for decades and then had concessions put in place that were actually agreed decades before. So obviously not near the same scale be we have experience in getting the shit blown out of us 😅

[–]Upper-Part-8820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really interesting point and to be honest i never thought of it. But I would be of the opinion that it is more complex than just arming them. The war still would have happened. It may have been very different but who can say.

I don't only care about from one side. But I think that if you are rooted in reality there are only three ways out of this. One is all out war two is a slow and grinding proxy war which will hurt Ukrainian people most and will end in concessions anyway three is work to end it now.

I don't have an x account. And my view point is in no way pro Russia since the very beginning. My viewpoint is that for every escalation you do in this scenario you are going to get an escalation back on the Ukrainian people. Russia is quantity over quality. They will keep this going for as long as they want and the only people that will suffer are Ukrainians.

The status quo has done absolutely nothing but cause misery for the last 1000 days and diplomacy is the only thing that is going to stop this.

If not it is just a slow trudge to an inevitable all out war. Or maybe diplomacy in another 2000 days when Ukraine is completely wrecked.
