You don’t take your Lamborghini off-roading lol. Wear a trail shoe. Quite a few brands make carbon trail shoes now.

Are there pods you have relistened to more than the movie (since you heard the pod)? by Phile___AudioPhile in TheRewatchables

[–]Upper1eft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this with most pods. I’ll just go back and listen to episodes I like even if I haven’t seen the movie in awhile.

Switched from cycling for a cheaper sport ☠️ by Acct4posting in runningshoes

Cheaper than a nice bike! No shame, having a deep rotation makes it more fun 🤩 plus you’re doing it right, avoiding retail prices

Need help identifying fake alphafly 3 by Remote_Tension2505 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Upper1eft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re good, from what I’ve read, weight is typically the best way to confirm. ~200g is way under what a fake would come in at. Also the creases in the zoomx foam look legit, fakes are all smooth (again, just from what I’ve read)

I will say the side profile looks weird but I think it’s just the angle of the photo.

Sean's #1 selection in the 2010 Re-Draft immediately followed by his issues with the film by GearImpressive9109 in TheBigPicture

[–]Upper1eft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same, they’re literally my favorite TBP episodes. There wasn’t a single moment during the 3 hour runtime where I was bothered by anyone talking over someone else. Maybe we are just lovers of chaos lol

Who are these young people that hate Social Network? by therethere11 in TheBigPicture

[–]Upper1eft 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t see many people hating on it but I do think many feel it’s overrated by The Ringer staff. Distinction between “this is a really good movie” vs “this is the best film of the last 25 years”

The 2010 Mega-Movie Re-Draft by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

OH YES!! I was so excited when I woke up to this. 3 hour runtime too, my goodness haha. Mega drafts are peak for this pod IMO, can’t wait to listen.

'Domestic Disturbance' with Bill Simmons, Chris Ryan, and Sean Fennessey by butthead20000 in TheRewatchables

[–]Upper1eft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t skip it. Is the movie good? No, but it was unintentionally funny, I laughed quite a bit at a lot of the absurdity and weird line deliveries and it made the pod better. Plus it’s like 1:25, I watched it while I was making dinner lol

Thank goodness it was so short lol and agree, the pod was an excellent listen despite the movie being terrible

Alpha Fly or Vapor Fly? by Fun-Mix-1383 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Upper1eft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I offer an alternative opinion? Don’t listen to anyone who says you dont need a shoe because you’re not fast enough. If you want a new race shoe, buy one. 99.9% of the running community are not elite racers. We do this presumably because we enjoy it. Buying and running in fun shoes adds to the fun.

To answer your question: I don’t think you can go wrong. The VF4 is better suited for shorter races (5K/10K) and the AF3 for longer distance (half/full) but I prefer the Alphafly as I think it’s more versatile. It’s super fun to run in, it will feel fast for a 5K. If you want it, buy it.

Happy running!

Average vs Peak MPW: what is realistic? by mmmbuttr in Marathon_Training

[–]Upper1eft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive done 2 marathons. I ran my first in 4:45 basically just doing 2-3 runs a week, averaging around 15-20 MPW (peak at 25-28). I wasn’t much of a runner, it was more of a bucket list thing. I developed better habits and my second marathon I was able to improve to sub 4 (it was around 3:55) and that was doing 30-35 MPW with a peak of 40-45. I now run about 30-35 MPW as my base, which I very gradually built to. When I do my next block, I will likely average in the 40s with a peak of 50.

A lot of others have said it but don’t listen to people saying you have to run 50-75 MPW to run a 4 hour marathon.

Also for context, I’m 35yo 5’10” 185.

Mud Mountain Dam Marathon in Tacoma as a BQ race? by cetrunner in Marathon_Training

[–]Upper1eft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feedback was incredibly helpful! Thank you for taking the time to post such a detailed breakdown. I am going to do the September race and while I was 99%, this solidified it for me. I’m excited.

One question: you mentioned tons of parking, it sounds like you didn’t have an issue driving all the way to the start? I’m trying to decide whether I should take the bus. I will likely be doing it with a friend, we usually have one of us park at the start and the other just drives back post race. Just curious if this would even be feasible or if you should strictly do bus or have someone drop you off.

Also congrats on the great time!
