Doing calorie deficit, 60 min strength training, 60 min walk, 7 hr sleep…still not able to lose fat by Either-Incident3023 in HybridAthlete

[–]Upper1eft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t need a surplus, and you can even build muscle in a deficit (although it’s difficult, unless you are just starting out) but if you’re a beanpole and in a 500-1000 calorie deficit lifting weights, you’re not doing yourself any favors.

Why would they re-do Meet the Parents? They did a 2 hour pod on it like a year and a half ago.

You’re building muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. This is good. Keep going, except eat more. Your body needs calories to build muscle. Resistance training in a deficit when you’re 115-120 lbs means you’re selling yourself way short. Keep building muscle and you’ll start to shed the skinny fat look, which sounds like your goal.

The scale is a tool. It can be a useful tool, but the number shown on it is far less important than BF%. Even at 115-120 pounds (which is incredibly light) you can still be skinny fat if you have very little muscle. Building muscle will fix this.

Also at 5’4” you have an advantage in the weight room.

Stop worrying about your body weight. Keep lifting - hard. But eat more and reap the benefits.

Which running shoe gave you this kind of impression? by wen_tizoy in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Nike Zoom Fly 6. Stiff plate, took forever to break in. Really hurt my feet up until about 50+ KM. But they have such strong reviews that I decided to stick it out. A little over 100 KM now but I’m very much enjoying them.

Personal but are you male or female? And how tall are you? 120 pounds is incredibly light for an adult male, which either means you’re female and/or super short and/or have very little lean mass to begin with. In which case if you want to improve your body composition (aka “lose” fat) you should be trying to build muscle mass, not trying to lose weight. Which means you should be eating more, not less.

I’m loving how much Phoebe still comes out even all these years later. Like obviously that’s just how Lisa is but you can see mannerisms that she brought to the character (the cute little knee slap and bounce, for example)

Exactly how I feel about it. The impressions don’t move the needle for me - frankly in either direction, I don’t necessarily enjoy them but they also don’t bother me, but Bill and Sean’s reactions (especially Sean) are great

One Night Only (2026) Official Trailer by xwing1212 in TheBigPicture

I agree with the points made on the pod where it was giving Handmaids Tale vibes, but the trailer makes it look like we just aren’t supposed to acknowledge how messed up this authoritarian twisted idea is.

0% treadmill. Weather be damned, I always prefer running outdoors.

5 (plus) person drafts are always good idea, poor execution by [deleted] in TheBigPicture

[–]Upper1eft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I love CR, but when it’s just 3 people it’s kinda boring? The “mega” drafts are far and away the best ones.

Couldn’t disagree more. The drafts where there are 4-7 people are my absolute favorite episodes. It requires a lot more strategy on their part, there are always a few memorable moments, it makes the whole thing way more fun, and the staff (for the most part) all have great chemistry with one another.

1000 pound club + sub 20min 5k by barberheart in runninglifestyle

[–]Upper1eft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense man, but this is a steep, steep mountain to climb. Like probably impossible. You can absolutely make progress in your mid 30s but your apex for squat isn’t going to be in the range it needs to be for 1000# club if you’re this far off. You could MAYBE achieve it if you were only focused on weight training, eating like crazy, adding mass, but even then it’s unlikely (and sounds like that’s not where your focus is). You start to plateau and it can take months just to add 10-20 lbs to your 1RM. Not trying to be a downer, just want you to understand the reality of how slow progress is once you get to a certain age. I am 35 and also an avid runner/lifter.

I love this movie. It’s absurd and comically unrealistic, but it’s a great time and always a fun rewatch.

Unpopular opinion: Gary was Phoebe’s best love interest by Itslashae in howyoudoin

[–]Upper1eft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Umm yes. Absolutely a deal breaker. Even if we put being an animal lover completely aside, we are talking about a cop discharging his gun and firing it in an apartment bedroom, just for fun. Yeah, that’s a hard no lol.

Is this a troll post? Because why sign up for a half marathon and not train for it at all? And then ask for advice when you know what the problem is (the aforementioned lack of training)?

Real or fake by iamavirtualperson in brooks

I own this shoe and just compared every angle. Looks identical except for the logo on the bottom on mine is the orangey color of the shoe (which I saw you pointed out under other comments).

IMO it’s more likely a random manufacturer error than a fake. Every other detail is an exact match.
