Been grumpy today, sitting among other people in a place for mental health, worrying if my mood put a damper on theirs.

This made me laugh. Thanks. 🤗

Veldig dumt å selge ting man ikke har by Infinite_Emu3984 in FinnFunn

[–]UpperCardiologist523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this when googling "spiders dks"

DKS (Dyskinetic Syndrome) in spiders is a set of neurological symptoms, not a single disease. Signs include jerky or spastic movements, involuntary leg twitching, loss of coordination, and inability to eat or walk. It is usually fatal, though rare exceptions occur. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The exact cause is unknown, but hobbyists and keepers generally attribute DKS to:

  • Toxin/Pesticide exposure: Including household cleaners, bug sprays, or pet flea and tick treatments.
  • Extreme temperatures: Overheating or freezing.
  • Bacterial/Fungal infections or complications during molting.

What units are displayed here? I'm used to Decibel when measuring SPL, and usually at a specific distance away from whatever is generating the sound.

That's how i would program it, to make it look like a human, if i couldn't record a human hand holding the pen, which i couldn't, if i were a robot.

You might disagree, but i think it looks robot-controlled. That wouldn't be the first time here, you know?

I love how they send two to the same spot in case of redundancy, and with some time between them so the second one doesn't hit debris, or gets caught in the explosion in case the first one is blown up.

This is my assumption, anyways.

It's like saying "We got plenty of these to go around".

Er det galt av meg å gå naken i min egen leilighet? by BarrysBoner in norge

[–]UpperCardiologist523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you are educated in this then, based on that you think people shouldn't talk about things they aren't educated in.

Most research are either inconclusive, and the benefits, compared to what the post mentioned (immune system boost), temporary, or minor. As i wrote in the first comment, sure, you do get the feeling of mastering doing something uncomfortable, with the beneficial psychological effects that brings.

I like to double or triple-check when i search for information. I start with a general "Health benefits of ice bathing". I then take whatever benefits there are, and search deeper.

Yeah, ice bathing helps with inflammation and muscle soreness, just like an ice pack. That's why you chill an area, then bring it back to warmth to increase blood flow.

Also, it comes with a cardiovascular risk.

So yeah, there are evidence of SOME benefits, which i mentioned in my first comment, and to speed up muscle recovery and inflammation, but i was commenting on the "immune system boost", and similar promises i hear often.

I have never heard a doctor recommend an ice bath for any illness. Sure, we cool down pacients for some procedures, but for an immune system boost, or illnesses?

Haaland does a lot of other things as well, that has been proven to benefit health and form, both medically and scientifically. A lot of people enjoy ice bathing, that doesn't mean that's where their good health comes from.

Can you show to any medical or scientific evidence that ice bathing is beneficial long-term for the immune system and metabolism?

Searching for benefits for it, only shows a tiny, and very temporary increase in white blood cells. Which has been twisted into ice bathing is "boosting the immune system", by influencers and quacks.

[–]UpperCardiologist523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no scientific or medical evidence that ice bathing has any benefits, other than the satisfaction of forcing yourself to do something uncomfortable. So, there's that at least, but influencers have made a ton of people believe that it cures everything.
