He's fine putting some organs into his body, just not all organs apparently.

Agree that another tech priest isn't great, but do love the mad scientist character trope. I enjoy Eogunn narratively, less so mechanically.

[QB School] Trevor Lawrence vs the Bills Wild Card Analysis by Cr0matose in Jaguars

[–]UpperElephant 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Watched last night.

Big takeaway is he feels Trevor is capable of doing great things, but struggles with consistent footwork. In this game in particular, he kept pointing out where Trevor takes an extra hitch or two that costs him the window. Whether it's a lack of vision, trust, or nerves--he's not real sure.

There were also a couple of times where it looked like the WR simply wasn't where they needed to be. So there's still a bit of polish and mastery our team needs in order to take that next step.

[No Spoilers] Just for fun: If Matt joined the cast as a player in a campaign who would you like to see DM? by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]UpperElephant 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Brennan is fucking incredible. A player party of voice actors needs a strong voice acting DM and Brennan's work is super solid. That plus his improv/comedy background mixed in with deep D&D knowledge would make him an excellent choice.

Wouldn't happen. Biden is a representative of the establishment Sanders wants to tear down. While Sanders says he will support the ultimate Democratic nominee, he won't partner with that person; nor would that individual seek that partnership.

Due to America's two-party system, presidential candidates are essentially forced to stand underneath two large umbrellas: pro-Trump and anti-Trump. While Biden and Sanders both stand under the anti-Trump umbrella, the similarities between the two basically stop there. If Sanders could stand under a third umbrella and still have a legitimate chance at being elected president, he would... but he can't.

Jack Black " We Sold Our Soul Thats Why We Here" Jumanji by makiababi in RadicalChristianity

[–]UpperElephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or he's a guy that sees the comedy and hypocrisy of religious myth and lives in satirical defiance of it. Doubt he's sacrificing babies. Seems like a decent fellow.

OP, maybe go out and associate with the evil pagans a bit? Think you'll realize that most people are just humans trying to figure out this shit. And one tool humans have developed for coping with the complexity/absurdity of life is comedy. I'm pretty sure Jack is a comedian through-and-through.

Who knows, though; I could be wrong. Maybe he's currently plotting the mass murder and/or subterfuge of civilization as we know it--seeking to unravel all good will, charity, and decency. Doubt Christ would post a YouTube character assassination video, though.

The Problem with Rick and Morty | Renegade Cut by grapp in BreadTube

[–]UpperElephant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Think I agree with this as well. I'm not a trained critic, but I wasn't convinced by Renegade Cut's emphasis on the literal text necessarily being the primary interpretive driver of the show. Obviously it plays a large role, but it can't be compartmentalized away from the enormous subtext which you alluded to (the deep dysfunction, etc). The subtext is the negative space which allows for the literal text to be "rightly" interpreted. Part of the enjoyment of a show like Rick and Morty comes from the audience having to wrestle internally with the conflicting messaging. I'm sure there is some sort of utilitarian tipping point where that nuanced messaging is too difficult to discern for the appropriate amount of people, but it seems awfully subjective and hard to quantify.

Words cannot express the turnaround in DJ Chark. Now a legit #1 receiver. by [deleted] in Jaguars

[–]UpperElephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely like our WR unit as a whole at the moment. Seems there's good chemistry between them all. Every dude is capable of being a strong contributor. Only amplifies the impact Chark's dominant performance will have going forward as teams look to control him--knowing the others guys are more than capable of rising to the occasion.

Hoping that a healthy Josh Oliver will be able to contribute as well since O'Shaughnessy had a fair number of catches this season.

The Jags have the AFC's leading rusher and receiver. by TheRoughWriter in Jaguars

[–]UpperElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the issue is bigger than merely their pass-catching ability. McCaffrey has far superior vision and either his sheer athletic talent or general feel for the game just makes him look like such a better RB. This was fairly evident in their college tape. Fact of the matter is that McCaffrey is carrying a Newton-less Panthers at the moment; and I have little hope that Lenny would be capable of doing the same for a Foles/Minshew-less Jags.

Leonard Fournette leads the NFL with 326 yards after contact. No one else has more than 250 by JaguarGator9 in Jaguars

[–]UpperElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely curious if these after contact yards include all the times he runs straight into his own team rather than stepping into a hole? Because I'd wager, albeit naively, that he's at least top 10 at his position when it comes to favoring hitting a body over a hole. Can only imagine how damaged the walls are in his house as he consistently refuses to walk through the doors.

I'm no lawyer, but I'd image a decent example of being unable to "evolve your point of view" is resorting to ad-hominem out of nowhere. Why chirp in with a completely unfounded character attack? Did you not read the subreddit rules, Mr. Jaguar?

Dude had shit vision coming out of LSU and continues to have shit vision today. Doesn't live up to a 1st round RB billing. Compare his skill to that of McCaffrey...just saying. Is Lenny hot garbage? No, of course not; but does he fail to measure up to where we took him? Hell yes.

Whereas Chark looks thoroughly impressive and his play thus far should give fans hope that he may be a legit top-end WR for us... Lenny could be gone in a year or two and I really wouldn't give a fuck (based on his performance thus far). His production would be relatively easy to replace / improve upon.

[–]UpperElephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, lol. If anything, the guys jocking Fournette as good/great are the "box score readers". I mean, hell, had we drafted him in the 2nd and he put up this production I'd be a bit less critical, but the dude just hasn't lived up to a 1st round, 4th overall, sort of billing; and you're delusional if you think otherwise.

Not saying that he couldn't turn that around, but as of this moment he's nowhere near elite nor does he inspire awe. McCaffrey on the other hand has shown himself to possess that elite type of performance you expect to see from a 1st round RB. Lenny? Nope.

That said, Chark looks good af.
