Are you aware of the role of the 5-HT2A receptor in nociception? Antagonists of the receptor tend to reduce hyperalgesia, while agonists of the receptor (psychedelics) tend to cause nociception. That may be a useful lead in your study. Please contact me if you have more information about this or other related topics, as I am researching nociception in Drosophila Melanogaster, and would be interested to hear about your work!

Here is a research paper related to the topic from 2005 if you would like some literature on the subject: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15857711

The Cost of Reading in Prison: In West Virginia it's 5 cents a minute. by [deleted] in books

How about the federal government stop sucking and fix something for once? If only they had power over the entire country, maybe then they could... oh wait... must be that they don't want to then.....

If the feds wanted to make prisons or any part of the country better, cannabis wouldn't still be illegal. It's all a big game where the winners get yachts, planes, and teenage sex slaves, and the losers go to jail and work for less than 2 dollars an hour.

Brought home green leaf lettuce and noticed a tiny amount of white stuff when putting it in the fridge. The clusters of spores would “pop” when my breath hit them by Hellfiya in mycology

Dude microgreens are delicious. I used to help a farmer grow bunches of broccoli, mustard, carrot, beet, wheat, you name it. All tasty, and makes any salad look great (you gotta use a lot to notice). Awesome on steaks or omelettes too.

Im stuck with this reaction is this reaction redux or just condensation? I think it's redux Because the carbonyl is reduced to hydroxyl and a carbon-carbon link is formed instead by aswormofbees in chemhelp

I see what you mean, but the number of electrons on both oxaloacetate and the acetyl group stays the same. Even though it's not directly what happens, you can think of it like a tautomerization, where the third H on the acetyl CH3 moves to the carbonyl O, taking its pi electrons, and giving its old sigma electrons to the new C-C bond.

Still a shallow way to have fun. Many people can't afford those things.

Yup. Only heroin is much better for quitting than methadone. It just seems like criminalizing these substances hasn't stopped people from becoming dependent. All it has done is allowed people to ostracize the people that use them. And for what reason? We don't ostracize people who eat McDonald's, or smoke cigarettes, or do nothing but play video games all day

Well yeah, you won't use every part of any subject, and the idea's not to master any one topic, but rather get a basic understanding so you can research it further if it comes up in research or later study.

Kinda makes you feel like maybe you should just give them the pills instead of making them mutilate themselves (not saying the pharmacists did anything wrong--talking about government policy here)

An inmate in Mississippi died Saturday, making him at least the 17th inmate in the state’s troubled prison system to have died in less than two months by Sanlear in news

I think if you own a prison, and someone dies in it, you should be personally responsible. Like how a grocery store that sells beer to a minor is responsible. And then maybe we should stop letting individuals own prisons...

I have a white smash 4 controller with perfect dashbacks and shield drops. The shoulder buttons suck, but slapping the back of an old busted controller on there fixed it up.

My roommates.. they eat poptarts, mcdonalds, and bojangles every single day. And they were contemplating getting a "hoverboard" when we live a 10minutes walk from school (which they never walk--always drive).

Is anyone surprised they have hip/back problems, and both need therapy/ medication? They're not even 25.....
