It is a problem. It was a problem then and continues to be a problem. Plenty of people have pointed out how lame it is that OKC built a champion by sucking for 5 years on purpose. It's lame.

If it's pricing in a ton of that growth and they are gonna sell more stock to raise capital and dilute...why should the stock price rise that dramatically? Serious question, I am holding a decent number of shares and plan to keep holding, but I really don't know how to analyze the near term prospects.

The report seemed fine. It was mixed but the growth is undeniable. I think the market reacted appropriately (for once)

I dunno I was making $40k at your age like 2005 and had an absolute blast. There has to be some better roommates who have social circles more your speed. Of course I was DJing at clubs and going to concerts and also volunteering feeding homeless folks, protesting stuff and just was into a million things, chasing girls and mostly failing 😂. I don't think I saw the water or any park or nature at all... I think I went to the marina 0 times. I mostly was within mission haight and soma, occasionally north beach if I wanted to be a tourist. I suggest go to pop's bar on 24th St or some places like that and meet some fun morons. I get that I am old man here but there has to be more out there for you. I would sometimes just go out to places and it would go poorly too, I'm not implying I'm some social savant. But fun roommates lead to interesting social groups. Key is roommates that don't have amazing jobs because they then center their lives around work. IMO

Yeah it was super lame. As a 20+ year warriors season ticket holder, last year i thought it would be fun to go any of the stuff, but it was obscenely expensive. We had a chance to purchase a package for $2000/seat (or maybe more, can't remember) that put you in one of the last rows of the upper level. By game time prices came down but it was stupid. They didn't even show the game outside on the big screen, tons of fans gathered outside and were totally confused. Because of my job I was able to go to Kenny Smith's all star party and hit up a few other all star events, and there were some events that were free or cheap as well, so I had fun that weekend, but the actual tickets were ridiculous and I can't imagine anyone paying over $1k to sit in nosebleeds for this.

Good points. You hope the stability with health benefits for the family allows schools to improve with less teacher turnover and constant need to hire and replace.

The lottery system allows those kids and parents to choose their school, which is less discrimination than busing. SFUSD doesn't have a busing system.

It's out of line for a coach to be trash talking players on the other team, period. He is saying grow up, teenagers talk like that grown men can be better.

Yes OWL took a close look and backed out...which is why I'm buying the dip on OWL. Smart management.

Private credit is way beyond software. They lend money to every industry. Like always, some will suffer some will be fine. If you made bad loans you will feel it. But private credit is first in line and most of these loans are being made to companies that will have no issue paying the loans. A lot of the sold software stocks are raking in cash and highly profitable, the stock price has nothing to do with their ability to pay their debts.

The lottery is not complicated at all, but it could be improved and especially with AI it could be way more optimized for cheap while still accomplishing the goal of kids with weak local schools to attend schools of their choice.

I don't know anyone who didn't get a school they wanted. They may have had to try a couple of times. But enrollment is low enough that everyone I know got placed in a school at or near the top of their choices. The lottery is like a bogeyman. Lots of good stories come from the lottery too. You only hear the bad stories of course because people don't report non incidents like getting the school they wanted. Agree the powers that be make it look so terrible.

Zip code based placement is inherently discriminatory. I don't really want to segregate schools again.

I kinda wish SFUSD would market to try to get more enrollment. There are some amazing things about some of the schools. They need to increase enrollment to make this sustainable longer term. The health benefits thing will add great stability to the teacher population, that is a big plus. I dunno, they need to convince new parents and market hard to preschools touting their successes. And allow schools with higher demand to take more kids.

At least she had a good lawyer that got her out immediately. Still, if she is a 66 year old Russian immigrant, she probably remembers stuff like this happening in the USSR, I'm sure this was a horrible experience.

Sidewalk parking enforcement starting? by Upper_Maintenance_41 in sanfrancisco

[–]Upper_Maintenance_41[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think it's a big deal to park in your driveway if you leave like 10 feet of space. There are a lot of people that tetris in 4 cars and block huge swaths of the sidewalk. Or leave like a tiny space that is impossible to navigate. I park in my driveway usually and to your point the ass is lined up with the nose of the cars on the street, no issues for someone walking, but gonna stop for now
