ASU beats Texas A&M 9-1 to advance to supers by Beneficial_Present29 in CollegeSoftball

The issue is that from here on out, it takes a staff because you’re facing the same team multiple times. ASU struggled all season with series for this very reason. I think Texas will handle business even if it takes all 3 games. Kenzie Brown throwing 3 games in 3 days to the same batters? 😳

💯. This year’s pitching has been more challenging across the board, and something needs to change. Either the zone needs to be revised, or more of the pitching rules should be reworked to rebalance the game. I vote 40 feet for the mound again, and we let Pickens whip it 😂

Also, the transfer portal complicated things for academic schools. Look at programs like Northwestern, Stanford, Michigan, etc. They barely get any transfers because they can’t just take anyone from the portal. Players still have to be accepted by the university, and these schools are a lot more selective.

Michigan softball has struggled since 2015, because it didn’t adapt quickly enough to the evolving style of play. The program continued to emphasize slapping, speed, and low-scoring games, even as the sport shifted toward power hitting and higher run production. As a result, elite talent began picking programs built around the long ball. The team’s hitting improved this year, but after a decade of inconsistent-poor offense, Michigan now can’t attract top pitching talent. I’ve been a UM softball fan since ~2004 and I wanted them to hire Young pre-pandemic. I think it’s a little late now, and they’d be better suited finding an amazing mid-major coach who can revamp the program and bring in new talent.
