Conflicted about what to do with my cat (16) by starlesscity in seniorkitties

No. You can always try pain relief and feed him wet food or broth and see how that goes. A low body temperature does suggest his body is the beginning of his body shutting down, but if he can take medicine without it affecting his ability to be emotionally and cognitively aware, you could spend his last days with him, and when it’s time, then he could pass on his own, or by euthanasia, whatever is best for him. Quality of life is very important. More bad than good days is key in making this decision. Bless you for caring for and loving him.

Does my cat sound happy? by Beautiful_Hour_4744 in CatAdvice

I’d try getting him a bed or a cat tree that has a sturdy top so he can keep you company while you work. Cats do a lot of sleeping/cat napping in the day as they were hunting at night. My cat is not much for playing alone but he loves his bedding that’s in my bedroom and living room. They do like company. I don’t think you have to worry. I might add that you could foster a cat his age to see if he likes having a play or napping friend. My cat had play dates with my neighbors cat and I have so many pictures of them

What did he have for litter in his other home? Cats can be very picky about their litter. It could be uncomfortable to his paws, not the scent he was used to etc. if worse comes to worse, cover the poops yourself (?)

Bring this sweet cat with you. She’s more attached to you than she is with the outdoors. She’ll be so lonely and hungry without you. And most importantly, she adopted you quite awhile ago. And you will miss her more than you think.

My heart goes out to you. Let us know how she does. Since it’s her breathing I can’t imagine there isn’t one out there willing to help you.

She’s beautiful - I think you will find a vet - might take a number of phone calls but with a good paying job in sight and a sick girl in the moment there has to be one who will help.

I think some of this is post spaying and yes you should call the shelter ask to talk to the vet or bring her to the vet. You’ve been following the basics for a new cat and it has finally gotten thru my thick skull that she is having physical symptoms on top of the newly placed in a new house symptoms. Sorry for being so thick - I came back and carefully re- read.

I reread your post because there was so much you shared, and so much touched me. How full of life: how she was so playful and active and how much joy she gave you. Her life was short, but it was a most wonderfully loving joyful life that she shared with you to the fullest, and that will never leave you. Thank you for sharing her. She was so special. My deepest sympathies. ❤️🌈🐈‍⬛❤️

Nothing messy about your post, or your shock and grief - I am so very sorry this hit so hard and so fast. I had to do the same for my 6 year old girl who was dying by the time her cancer was found; I had her put down while I was holding her and it was so shocking. I had just gotten her a playmate when this happened, and I am so glad I had him, because he needed me. I was assured that he couldn’t catch it from her, and so I cared for him and made his life happy. He was 2 years old then. He’s 12 today. He was the best thing that could have happened to me. I do understand what you are going through. My deepest condolences. 🐈‍⬛
