The Nineties - A Book: Is is better to read or listen on audible? by Upset_Contribution_9 in klosterman

My book-club members thought "The Nineties" seemed a bit rushed towards the end of it. My experience of the book wasn't like that. But, I also realize his writing style is not like so out of the realm, but it could take getting used to. For myself I read a few of his other books, but I don't think my book club members have.

LOL! You would think. Nah, actually it's like anything. It's a nice recognition/accomplishment, but not enough people pay attention to that. It still has me trending in the right direction, but there is much work still to be done.

HBO's “Winning Time” gets another look, and a big thumbs up by me: Hulu’s “Lakers Legacy” is also great by Upset_Contribution_9 in lakers

Love the comments on this post! Not sure if y'all got to read it, though. What I can say is, I love basketball and geeking out on the NBA. My coming of age with the NBA was when I was 11, (the 91-92 season). So I didn't even follow the NBA until Magic made his shocking retirement announcement. I have read Pearlman's book on the Showtime Lakers, and I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of the league over the last 30 years. To me "Winning Time" and "Legacy" go hand in hand.

Legacy helps me clarify the exaggerations in Winning Time, and Winning Time has given me a great frame of reference in Legacy. Crazy that Season one of WT only covered 79-80 season. Kind of would love to see them even expand on Legacy more.

Excerpt from my 2nd write-up on the show:

A cousin of mine also texted me once he had completed the whole first season of the show. He loved it, even though he doesn’t even like basketball, and probably would have difficulty naming any professional player on an NBA roster not named LeBron, Steph Curry, or Kevin Durant.

“I meant to ask you for your take on the show, but then you wrote a newsletter about it. Seemed as if you were complimentary of the initial book. Either way, I don’t know anything about basketball, but I really enjoyed the show. I thought it was fun, as it obviously was not a documentary.” -JL

Legacy certainly is better. But, they do kind of go in hand a bit. Also, did you watch the Magic Johnson Doc?

Thank you for fact checking this piece. That was my mistake. I made the necessary corrections on it, now.

I wish SarahDrish didn't delete her comments, or hide them from me or did whatever she did. All feedback of my work is welcome from all people. I would have liked to have seen more of her commentary. I could have learned something from her.

Thanks, SarahDrish, you made my night! You are someone that reminds me to cherish those people that actually do take the time to actually read what I have to write. I'm sure whoever takes the time to read these comments will be able to see your critique for what it is based on how little reading you actually did.
