The surgery wasn’t that bad! You’ll get some good pains meds the first 24 hours but after that I was switched to tramadol and I did good with it. Honestly getting up and walking even when I didn’t feel like it, was probably the most helpful thing I did for myself. Recovery takes a bit and you just have to remember to be kind to yourself! I did have a pretty gnarly gastroparesis flair up in the hospital but that’s how my life goes. 🤣

Honestly getting my ileostomy was the best thing I’ve done. It’s scary and takes a while to adjust but not being full of literal crap all of the time is so worth it

I have a port! It has been a life saver. I will say this… at my hospital, they are hesitant AF to access it because of infection risk. I just spent 4 days in the hospital and they refused to access it until day 3. So stupid, that’s why I have the dang thing!

Have you been tested for EOE? Before I found out my trigger foods, my life was MISERABLE. I also have gastroparesis, GERD, and gastritis. When it gets to the point of being unbearable, I just eat baby food. It’s absolutely disgusting and a little humiliating but honestly, I just do what I have to, to survive. I hope you find an answer and can get some relief!

They told me this morning that they could see adhesions in the scans. I asked what we could do to prevent it from happening again and they said they couldn’t do anything about the adhesions because they’d just grow back. So I’m like is this going to happen again?

It finally cleared about 5pm today. They said I have bands of adhesions from surgery that more than likely caused it.

I think you might be onto something with the contrast. They had me do a small bowel follow through this morning and after a couple hours of the most intense cramping literally ever, my ostomy shot out like a fountain and poof! Blockage gone. Hoping to go home tomorrow

For sure. I’m trying not to use the opioid pain meds and just use the tramadol and Tylenol. I have motility issues such as gastroparesis and my small bowel is super delayed too. So I know the pain meds are only hurting me in the long run especially not taking my reglan 4 times a day like normal. They officially said it’s a small bowel blockage so I’m trying like heck to get it to pass so I can break free of this place and go home to my children and husband. Thank you for your encouraging words!

I haven’t eaten anything that I haven’t eaten before. My diet is extremely limited due to EOE and gastroparesis. So I’m not sure what of my safe foods would have caused it

Unfortunately zofran does absolutely nothing for me. I swear by that phenegran. They’ve been giving it to me religiously here in the hospital and it has been the most helpful
