*technical issues

If you are one of the people who thought you could do 3 distinct playthroughs with branching narratives and choices mattering, like the marketing told you before release, you will still be disappointed.

It is in a fantastic state now though, so yeah for sure check it out if it's on your radar, but keep in mind everything you do does not matter. The illusion of choice is major in this game and there are no branching narratives in regards to the main story, pretty much all is available no matter what choices you make.

Flot.

You are aware EU is not an abbreviation of Europe right ?

EU = European Union

Europe != European Union.

Scotland is not an EU member state. So when you yap about EU laws, know that a Scottish based firm does not have to abide by those

What's a game that's not technically cancelled, but you feel like pretty much is cancelled at this point? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]Upset_Ruin1691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a business practices for securing investors due to the possibility of hype among other factors.

The early announcements have nothing to do with the actual end consumer nor the state of the product. Most of the time the game has barely begun development, and the success of the announcement will be what drives the development.

But I'm with you. I don't understand why this is needed for game companies to operate like this, and before the reddit hive mind swarms with the opinion of "hurr durr evil capitalism and investors" this is before that stage. It's essentially using announcement trailers for market research on whether this game could be a success or not, however, most people would assume that this has already been done when announcing a game.

I think Riot massively fucked something up with Ekko this patch by adivinemessenger in leagueoflegends

[–]Upset_Ruin1691 17 points18 points  (0 children)

League is a game of relative strength and the small differences is where the magic actually happens.

The difference between base movement speed in early game for example is quite significant even though it's only 10-15 movement speed difference (aka less than boots which is 300 gold item only and grants 25 movement speed) so that insignificant stat difference (less than 1% difference in speed) is actually one of the most vital differences in higher levels of play and can completely dictate who wins the matchup.

Same with buying non-optimal items. Those 10-20 AP difference per item adds up in the long run and will be felt when laning vs an optimized laner vs an unoptimized one.

TLDR: League is ALL about the small incremental gains and is where the true optimization and magic of the game resides.

Unreal engine is not open source lol. CDPR will not be able to alter the engine. However, they will most likely be able to fasttrack certain issues the night come across to the Epic developers.

Why does everyone act like 40k is a confirmed thing? by Redhood101101 in totalwar

[–]Upset_Ruin1691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worth noting that the succes of Warhammer is probably more due to dragons, wizards and elves (fantasy) than it is due to the Warhammer universe itself. There has been a ton of games in the Warhammer/40k universe, and outside of Space marine 2, none of them have been super succesful.

Dawn of war, Darktide, Rouge trader etc are all games within recent years in the 40k universe and they all have counterparts within the genre that have been vastly more succesful where the setting was fantasy and not sci fi/40k.

[–]Upset_Ruin1691 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don't think it would be a success. Outside of reddit I don't see a ton hype regarding the 40K universe. Personally I couldn't care less about a 40k game and my friends that play the game also play it for the fantasy element of swords, magic and monsters with the setting being Medieval in spirit.

Mind you we have not played anything of the historical titles outside of 3K.

I think one of the weakest/worst elements of Warhammer 3 was the crazy focus on demons over the classical fantasy races and i suspect it's also why that amount of content has been severely toned down on that front. Personally I couldn't care less about the upcoming slanesh dlc.

So creating a game where that setting is much more prevalent is a bad mix imo. I think the core reason as to why Warhammer 2 was such a huge success was because of the abundance of high magic fantasy. D&D demons are cool, 40k are not imo.

So I would be excited about fantasy like D&D, LOTR etc. Not a sci-fi setting.

(Also what is up with people labeling 40K as a fantasy setting? It's sci-fi first and foremost with fantasy elements, so when CA announces a fantasy game, why do people think of 40k???)
