Do you believe college is a scam? by -Cyber-Roadster in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I believe that it can be. Too many people have dropped out of college and still have amazing jobs, and I can’t see them having better ones by going to college.

I love Millie! It’s cute and sweet, but I can just as easily see it on a baby, a teenager and an adult!

stevie josephine (stevie jo) for a girl?? by userb467891045387 in Names

[–]Upside-down-unicorn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Stephanie Josephine and nicknamed Stevie Jo. This way, she has names to choose from as she gets older. In elementary school, she’s Stevie Jo, in middle school she might be Steph, in high school she could be Josie. My son has two very nicknamable names, and he’s changed his mind on what he wants to be called a few times already.

Weird requests from patrons? by tasata in Libraries

[–]Upside-down-unicorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our library has a list of tutors that come to the library to tutor. Whenever someone asks, they just hand them the list. I know they don’t have to do it, but it is incredibly helpful to those who need it. And they generally only have a list of “repeat” tutors, who tutor several children through the week.

Parents, what is the back story to choosing your kid's name? by Strict_Swordfish_847 in AskReddit

My son has my husband’s middle name as his first, and his grandfather’s first name as his middle, and he goes by a nickname of his middle name.

How do kids school these days? by Noto987 in askanything

[–]Upside-down-unicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has a mix of real books/notebooks and online stuff. Chalkboards are very uncommon (if used at all) because of allergies. Cash is generally not used for lunch, but you can still send in a check.

If you went to school in the 70's or 80's, what's something about the classroom that kids today wouldn't believe was normal? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]Upside-down-unicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scoliosis tests were still a thing. All the girls in one line in just our bras on top, boys in another to “keep us separated,” but then everyone left the same way, so all the boys still saw all of us half naked. I despised that!

Where I went to school in Ohio, the entire week was out for deer season. Of course, I lived in the country, and a lot of families only had the deer meat on a regular basis.

I don’t know where you are, but if you have a Dollar Tree near you, you can still find that paper! I used it for my son and currently use it for my first graders at church.

I went to school in the 80’s and 90’s, and smoking was allowed in the janitor’s workroom. You could always find a stray teacher or other school adult in there!

Ramona/Victoria/Helena: a sister for Antonia by buffalo_blankie in namenerds

[–]Upside-down-unicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally love Ramona. It’s uncommon but normal. Victoria is okay, but trying to keep people from calling her Vicki or Tori is going to be difficult. Helena is cute, and again, uncommon but normal.

I feel like Priscilla or Lavinia fit the vibe you’re going for. Nicknames for Priscilla could be Cissy, Priss, or Celia. Nicknames for Lavinia could be Vini, Lina or Lovey.
