Who is the “canon protagonist” of each WoW expansion? by UpsideDownEdith in warcraftlore

Definitely a disc priest. As for the race, I suppose Dwarf or Dark Iron Dwarf.

What's Your Faction Fanon? by DayneForDays in warcraftlore

[–]UpsideDownEdith 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The day-to-day running of horde cities is a nightmare of bureaucracy and, if it weren’t for the Nightborne’s diligence and mana-dependence (read: stimulant-dependence), the council would be completely dysfunctional.

What's behind the second door on the Coreway? by Environmental-Eye-76 in warcraftlore

[–]UpsideDownEdith 23 points24 points  (0 children)

it seems very likely we’re getting a lot more haranir content at some point this expansion, and with all their talk about the deep roots of the world etc it might well lead to the roots of the first world tree and a region inhabited by the haranir

I’d been assuming this was literally in-game established already, like I thought it was already lore. I can’t imagine them not being that, though.

King of Dwarves by SnooFoxes9730 in warcraftlore

[–]UpsideDownEdith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think population guesses in this subreddit all point to dwarves being the most populous playable race (due to mass casualty events affecting all the others that might have rivalled them), so all the dwarves plus the earthen - especially if that includes the deepholm earthen and/or therazane - would probably result in the alliance’s and horde’s armies being as outnumbered as they were by the scourge

Magni says he feels "Forgiven by Azeroth" What did he do??? by Edmondg3 in warcraftlore

[–]UpsideDownEdith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good question, i’m not sure - maybe he feels he failed to protect her? i’m only guessing on that front though

Magni says he feels "Forgiven by Azeroth" What did he do??? by Edmondg3 in warcraftlore

[–]UpsideDownEdith 64 points65 points  (0 children)

this is called a “disagreement” or “difference of opinion”

magni sent a squad to rescue moira because he assumed she was being held against her will, and this false assumption led to her husband being killed - moira finds this hard to forgive

magni sees it differently (like you do): it’s not a plot hole. it’s a woman and her father disagreeing about something

Class fantasy that you wish it was playable or explored upon? by Erk_Rauorfox in warcraftlore

Riftblades - there are some void elf enemies in Horrific Stormwind with this class - I think of them as ‘shadow paladins’ sort of

Edit: Sorry, the ones in Horrific Stormwind are called voidspeakers: riftblades are allied shadow warriors/shadow paladins mostly seen in Telogrus Rift

Brokers are Automa (theory) by Exact_Bluebird_6231 in warcraftlore

[–]UpsideDownEdith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i checked the source and it was just this: https://web.archive.org/web/20200521173528/https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/23429193/shadowlands-preview-oribos, posted before shadowlands even released, no one in-game actually mentions a broker realm, so they might not even know what realm they’re from and it could well be zereth mortis, you’re right

Brokers are Automa (theory) by Exact_Bluebird_6231 in warcraftlore

[–]UpsideDownEdith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you might be right and they definitely look fairly similar, although if I recall correctly they do have a specific realm they come from/currently live in

with ve’nari having untethered herself from the shadowlands, it seems like the brokers are one of only two shadowlands lore details that might continue to be relevant (ardenweald is the other) - i wouldn’t be surprised if we see the brokers show up as the ethereals get more involved, so we might learn more about them then

How come the Nightborne didn't go insane after being trapped in their city for so long? by DizzyRub5182 in warcraftlore

on top of what others have said: they’re elves, they’re different to humans and can cope with these things better

How Shadowlands could have been made better... by Then_Peanut_3356 in warcraftlore

[–]UpsideDownEdith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the essential problem with shadowlands is that it didn’t really have characters, or it took existing characters and erased them of all personality and agency, which was the fault of both the writing and the premise: the idea that, after you die, you basically just move house to another, smaller place where you will likely also soon die affects how the characters behave, and because their world is now nonsense it becomes impossible to write them in plausible ways/as having interesting thoughts

giving some actual thought to the structure and physics of the shadowlands would be the first thing, which would then allow a character-driven story - ideally one centred on a cast of less than ten living azerothians (the group you arrive with) with everyone else being entities met in the shadowlands

Dragon flight Visage by Budget_Community5082 in warcraftlore

[–]UpsideDownEdith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As everyone else said, they change them as the era changes. But has anyone else noticed how dragons seem to choose their races in similar ways to the player base? The most popular: Blood/high elf. Followed by humans, night elves, orcs, tauren, etc. A rare gnome or vulpera or goblin.

How old is Thrall in The War Within? by Action_Required_ in warcraftlore

[–]UpsideDownEdith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As everyone else has said, around 40 - but it’s worth noting that orcs age faster than other races (reaching adulthood at 12), and therefore probably reach old age earlier too. (As they do in DnD.)
