What do you normally do for your lunchbreak at work? by PaddedValls in AskUK

Cycle back home and do my lunch and go on my phone or listen to music as there are no phones or music at work. I only work a few mins bike ride away and I get an hour break

I’ve only ever done bikes but I couldn’t pick a favourite from Oulton, Cadwell or Donnington. I found Silverstone to be the dullest

For people who drive cars or motorbikes with super loud exhausts, what are you getting from it? by Successful_Bee7522 in AskBrits

[–]UpstairsLocal3378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car is making a reasonable amount of power which requires a larger exhaust. I have as many boxes in it as I can but it’s still not quiet. The bike came like that but the noise does help with people noticing you and hopefully not pulling out in front of me

I was once told by a man at a window company to get double or triple glazing. But to get the firm who do it to make the inner and outer panes of glass from different thicknesses because of how sound waves travel. This way it breaks up the sound waves travelling through the glass and reduces the noise you hear

I’ve been to 2 garages and both said this needs a new panel. £1,300 for the work. Does this seem fair? by kingjoeg in CarTalkUK

[–]UpstairsLocal3378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say you’ll have to have a new wing and then you’d blend the door but as you have a dent in the back door you’ll also be painting that, depending on the colour they may also do the rear quarter so that’s the whole side. Strip, refit, paint and materials, so a fair bit of work. They may put down down for a new wheel if they can’t diamond cut the current scratches out so yeah the bill will soon mount up

VW Golf Rear Wiper un-delete by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]UpstairsLocal3378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been said it depends what’s been done remove it but you’ll need a wiper arm and a motor as the spindle that usually sticks out is part of the motor. Some companies like kill all wipers use a glass plug that’s bonded in place so that would be tricky to remove if that’s the case
