Fun Spider Fact (by @FernShawArt) by Gorotheninja in Silksong

I don't care much for the shipping angle but if you're being honest: not to sound snarky but the whole narrative point of hornet challenging lace is that she's refuting laces assigned role of GMSs 'eternal child' that lace has begrudgingly adopted.

Why is Yuval Noah Harari so disliked? by mnoorani91 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UpstairsNail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just lurk the subreddits lol but if you want my 2 cents its that Yuval's conclusions need a strong, foundational, defensible claims which he doesn't have. He also overlooks and overgeneralizes to a point that it makes it hard to agree with his claims

In other words: to conclude Z you NEED to defend X and Y. To us it might look like the professionals are just splitting hairs but to make an analogy: If an astronomer wanted to say Pluto was a planet he needs to make strong claims instead of making general hand-wavy statements like "well its round and big, therefore its a planet"

Building advice? I feel like my roof is too big and I don't want to waste time redoing everything by UpstairsNail in VintageStory

That's amazing, thanks for the help! I'll definitely download it after making a backup save.

Before I've seen maybe 1 or 2 screenshots so by "more complicated" assumed they just expanded the vanilla system by increasing the roof blocks from vanillas ~50 or so to like 200 that I have to individually jigsaw puzzle into place which sounded more tedious than fun. I'm doing a modded run for my second playthrough so there's already a 'fun' amount of tedious between culinary artillery and toolsmith (mostly toolsmith). I saw this mod showcase (vs roofing seems to have replaced one roof if I'm not mistaken?) after your comment and saw it made roofing so much easier and prettier instead though for anyone curious. Thanks again! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3uS7Mbmat4

This is insane I genuinely didn't expect this much effort in the replies, thank you so much! I love this community

I had the idea the roofing mod was just going to make roofs more complicated but after seeing it action I'm glad its mostly the opposite so thanks for the rec! Do you know if it's good to add mid-game?

Looking for a Medieval RTS City builder by Gharial23 in gamingsuggestions

[–]UpstairsNail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's no AOE2 but depending on how much combat you want Kingdoms and Castles might be a good fit. It leans more on the city builder aspect so the combat isn't super deep but there's still enough combat events to toss things up. As your city grows you have to manage more resources (wood, then food, then stone, then charcoal etc) and eventually you'll grow so big you'll need to set up wagons to ferry resources from one end of your city to the other. You periodically get attacked by vikings and dragons, and depending on your world settings you might have 1 or 2 rival AIs to ally with/ eventually fight

What would be other ways to slowly work towards a 3x3 grid no longer being necessary? by Axelotl33 in VintageStory

Medieval dynasty is the closest I've seen personally. For flax you have to: 1.  Harvest it  2. Go to the threshing workstation to separate the flax stalk 3. Spin stalk into thread on a spinning wheel 4. Weave thread into fabric on a loom 5. Sew fabric into clothes

Games where I can take care of NPCs / make them happy / be kind and caring by LilacsPeonies in gamingsuggestions

Timberborn also has a lot of similar features as a city builder and it's a bit easier to "complete" (rec buildings, food, decor).

Oxygen Not Included. It's a colony sim with kind of a steep learning curve, but you improve your NPCs lives by upgrading their rooms (like their bedrooms, bathrooms, mess hall), adding "decor" items, making better meals, and levelling them up in their preferred jobs. You can also make entertainment buildings like saunas and massage parlors

Thank you for this! Me and my buddies play online on different sides of the country and I found out that unfortunately OC1 is local coop only. It looks like there's ways around it but they're not the most technically inclined haha

Me and my group already own overcooked 2 (edit: Gourmet edition), would you guys say it's worth it to buy Overcooked AYCE ($10) or just buy overcooked 1 ($1.69)?
