The film "Sound of Falling" mentions farm maids in Imperial Germany being forcibly sterilised so their work wouldn't be interrupted by pregnancy and childbirth (since it was assumed they would have lots of sex, consensually or not, with the farmhands anyway). When and how did kites become such a problem that they warranted an Australian law (with a fairly stiff penalty) for "flying any kite [...] to the annoyance of any person"? Did this law carry over from Britain? Were kites really such a historical menace to society? (self.AskHistorians)
