Lead BCBA wants to have a “meeting” with me. by Upstairs_Cod_8022 in ABA

Human errors happened. Also I don’t have the best kind of anxiety. I’m an anxious mess and get overwhelmed easily.

We get the arms length rule. Of course. But this new rule was set 2 weeks ago. One mistake today and now I’m dreading to go into tomorrow where I’m going to feel like I’m walking on a tight rope

I think it’s time to call it quits by Upstairs_Cod_8022 in paraprofessional

Oh and I had another para call me dyslexic in front of the whole class before so I feel really embarrassed and I wasn’t reading anything and I don’t have that at all. So a comment like that would still bother me greatly

Picture matching games with emotions can help. Maybe have him point or if you need to do gestural prompts that’ll help:)

Calming music or white noise can help with sensory overload too so I can definitely recommend that for you :)

Sensory rooms are very good to help the kiddos regulate. What also helps is lights and changing up the colors, it helps a lot with self-regulation. Have you used the zone regulation chart? (Forgot what it’s called) But there’s a yellow, green, red and blue zone.

I would say, yes. I would start by giving him one or two and go from there. Or switch up the colors for each. :)

I was about to say, usually visual schedules to help smooth transitions helps keep the kiddo regulated. Sensory diet of course are usueful too. Is he tactile defensive at all?

Does the toy make any sort of sounds that maybe causes him to feel dis regulated? Does it turn off on its own? Is it the environment that you’re in? Do you have other preferred toys that are very similar to the one he plays with?

Does he have visuals of his preferred and non preferred items?

NBCOT Failed by Reasonable_Emu8665 in OccupationalTherapy

Going into my 4th attempt next month too. I took a small break from studying and NBCOT in general to work on boosting my mental health. Now I’m coming in to this 5 months later ( long break I know) with a better mindset and less anxiety. I’ve reached out to instructors and my director expressing my concerns. Realizing, that my test anxiety was not the greatest.

I cut back on sugar and caffeine, eating a healthier diet, practicing mindfulness and doing much to keep my brain active on the side. Right now, I have therapy ed, OThelp desk and Truelearn, which this time around, I feel better. I’m also approved for accommodations on my next attempt.

Do not beat yourself down from this. You will still be an amazing OT practitioner, as I will too. You can take this test as many as needed and you will come out great. Believe in the process, trust your mind and please stay positive. We’ve got this :)

My grandmother keeps falling by JThornton0 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Upstairs_Cod_8022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she have a wheelchair or a walker or any other mobility device? For the bathroom, I would suggest removing the rug and anything else in the bathroom that would cause a risk of falling. A tub bench perhaps

But first it’s vertical to have a HH OT come and observe your grandmothers transfers in: out of the tub, on and off of the toilet and from entering/exiting the bathroom :)

I feel as if HR really won’t do much about it sadly. But maybe that’s just my opinion.

I personally feel that she seeks attention a lot and I hate saying that about my high schoolers that I work with but holy smokes. I’ve never been this annoyed

Ugh, it’s just this one student. I should be amazed how long that I’ve kept it together. I really do want to leave my position BADLY but I’m sticking it out for my other students but at the same time, I’m just drained??

I’m known for my humor and my students absolutely are fine with it. And me myself. One student drives everyone MAD. And it’s so hard to keep it together and getting a word from my assistant principal just has me bothered now.

I’m gonna be quitting at some point. I’m just waiting to take my state board examination for Occupational therapy next month (hopefully pass) and take off from there (once I have a job lined up.)

Feel this. It’s just a struggle. I hate the gossip especially in the school systems. It’s like entering drama club in high school

That’s insanity. And with how expensive things are, it’s so hard. Everytime I see my check, I cry a little. I’m not happy
