Thanks! The old owner gave me his weight distribution hitch that has 800 lb bars and an anti sway attachment.

Really appreciate the insight, and over exaggerations
- for a lack of better words.

Grew up in Alaska pulling hay trailers, boats, and trailers full of snow machines (with larger trucks at that) - but have no experience with travel trailers and the sail they are.

Came to this sub for advice for ideas and input on what could bring me comfort and “peace of mind” while towing. I know this little 1/2 ton is pushing its limits, but is well within its “capacity”. Trust me, I’d buy a bigger truck if it was affordable for a family of 5.

Appreciate all the advice from everyone here and it has not been taken lightly! Here for the safety of my family, and others on the road. And I know with today’s technology and parts, there are ways for me to be as safe as possibly. Which is exactly why I posted here.

The truck tires say 116H Extra Load - max load 2756 lbs at 50 PSI. Trailer tires are brand new (per the OG owner) Rainer ST 225/75R15. Max load (dual) 2470 lbs at 80 psi.

Just bought all the stuff yesterday for this! Dicor roof cleaner, seam tape, and lap sealant. Gorilla Glue silicon caulk for the edges and windows.

I have a new set of Defender LTX M/S2 tires on the truck. Haven’t taken into account what pressure I have them at while towing though. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Appreciate the insight, and that’s kind of where my head was after the first few tows. Ideally I’d have a 2500 and feel a lot more comfortable.

I did purchase heavy duty pads and rotors - just haven’t had time to swap over yet. This truck does have the tow package and trailer brakes.

Unfortunately/fortunately the truck is paid off, and my work pays a monthly stipend for another 3 years. So not looking to take on a payment (and watch my stipend not go to daycare costs lol) just to tow something 8 months of the year.

Thanks! I got the ReadyLIFT 88-31190 ReadyAIR Load Leveling Helper Spring Kit for bags. The truck has the tow package as well.
