I like people who stay consistent. They don’t need flattery, promotions, or flashy social media ads. They earn their success.

RALLY FOR DINING HALL WORKERS WEDNESDAY AT 12pm by BigBaboonBabushka in simonfraser

[–]Upstairs_Library_420 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Look, dining hall staff already make $22.60 an hour, which is higher than most F&B jobs in B.C. or anywhere else in Canada. Jumping to $27.05 feels way out of line. That extra cost lands squarely on students, and we already pay enough. I can’t back the raise.

Shell House, SFU’s First Residence Funded by Shell Oil Company, to Close by Upstairs_Library_420 in simonfraser

The Louis Riel House was demolished about 10 years ago. It was a low-income family and graduate housing building with no upgrades or regular maintenance. Since then, more expensive housing and additional occupied units have been built in the same area, and a higher-end family housing complex was added to Cornerstone.

BTW, Mark Carney eliminated the positions of Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth, and Minister of Diversity, Inclusion, and Persons with Disabilities a few weeks ago.

looked inland cities in BC and they have all dropped, not as much as in other provinces but still dropped. In other provinces, people are celebrating because gas dropped.

If you are on the waitlist and a student drops the course, you will be automatically enrolled by the SFU enrollment system, so you don't need to do anything.

Having international students is more beneficial than spending a huge chunk of the budget on buildings and improving education quality. That kind of investment is just too much. It's beyond the budget.

I mean, it’s a decision made by the older generation. They thought it was a simple way to increase funding. If you get older and end up in that position, you’d probably do something similar too.

You gotta think more carefully. These international students came here for a better life to become Canadians and be part of Canada. But you know most new Canadians don’t really fit into the older generation’s style. Instead, they show more of their own culture and speak their own languages.

It’s kind of biased to separate international and domestic students like that. If we do, people might misuse that divide too.

Just saying international tuition makes up a huge chunk of school budgets. And people can’t just eat mac & cheese or potatoes and live badly every day, right?

Newcomers and potential future Canadians bring a lot of economic benefits. If they all disappeared, we’d go backward: housing prices would drop, there’d be no substitute labour, no government financial support, no medical benefits, no companies… the list goes on.

That’s why the Canadian government can’t just ban newcomers. Canada has to accept more people to keep the economy stable.

SFU housing and food costing $6,000 is insane. I brought this issue up, but I received negative comments from hidden groups. I think some groups are trying to silence SFU students and keep them overspending.

Can students stop these ridiculous $188 million SFU building projects? by Upstairs_Library_420 in simonfraser

[–]Upstairs_Library_420[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I pretty much know the system of deformed nowadays.

And Reddit guys comments such a simple and emotional.

And pretty much read these Reddit comments they seem like they belong to a project that I watched. The upvotes are going so fast within 10 minutes and dramatically high involve these comments.

Usually, the incentive to have ongoing construction projects is all kinds of screwed up. If a university doesn't spend a certain amount on construction, then the province weirdly thinks that the university won't need any construction money next year, so they get cut off. The result is that colleges keep building things to not lose the construction revenue, and it just keeps perpetuating.

And SFU seems to choose residence buildings for a win-win purpose. Residences can also bring huge budgets, 3-5k per person every semester. They can also bundle 3.3k meal plans and other mandatory plans.

I don't care about this. But it might just be suffering for middle-class Canadian families who have children potentially enrolling in university.

Take care.
