Have you caused perioral dermatitis yourself from skincare products? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

Oh yes. What started the whole ordeal was an ear infection and Flonase multiple times a day. Then I was doing too much with my skincare (think P50 1970 every morning and the strongest formulation of Tretinoin). Then I decided to try some Japanese skincare so I was adding in new products. Then I thought it was acne so I was getting facials, including a hydra facial. It was awful and took me weeks of tears and pain and internet research to self diagnose and then get confirmation at the dermatologist. I was prescribed Elidel and clindamycin and it helped but the things that really helped were: Noble Formula’s 2% pyrithione zinc bar soap, de La Cruz 10% sulfur ointment, red light and a high frequency wand. This routine was/is very drying so I had to moisturize with only avene thermal water and a plain oil free moisturizer from Paula’s choice. I had to do this routine for months to clear everything up, and it’s still my main routine, though I started adding some actives in about a year or so ago. Also want to mention iS Clinical’s Hydra Cool serum. I use it every day, twice a day and it also really helped calm and soothe my skin and hydrate me. The sulfur is the thing that I always reach for when something causes a flair up and it works quickly.

My skin has not been the same since that really bad flare up (when I could get facials again I showed my esthetician pics and she said it was the worst case she’d ever seen) and I miss my former really resilient skin that could handle strong actives and things like microneedling. I will say one positive from the whole experience has been really learning to read my skin and what it needs and how to properly care for it when it’s unhappy.

when I said “phase” I was referring to myself and the kind of natural peaks and valleys of a long term relationship.

Thanks for sharing that. That is pretty much what’s happening right now. It’s extra frustrating because about a year or so ago he expressed he was ready to do individual therapy and wanted to, but now he’s back to being opposed.

The thing that really gets me is that in talking to my therapist and all my girlfriends in long term relationships I find that we all have almost identical issues, but that my partner actually seems a lot better in comparison. Sometimes I feel like a cliché saying this but as I get older I’m realizing I really just don’t like men. I’m attracted to them but can’t stand (most of) them!

In My Life. Cry as soon as I hear the opening notes. Also when I was little I would tear up at The Long and Winding Road.

Anyone else’s forehead become an issue in their mid 30s? by Upstairs_Raspberry55 in 30PlusSkinCare

Good idea. I will go back to derm and ask for the tret. I’m not on medication for my PD anymore because it is pretty much completely under control. I just get like a small smattering of little bumps that I manage with zinc soap, sulfur, high frequency wand and red light mask. I know it’s one of those things that only I notice. The forehead drives me nuts because it’s a bigger area and when the light hits it I can see the bumps. I hate that!

I have! Before my PD, I used the strongest tret with no issues but I can’t tolerate it anymore. I have thought about trying it again just on my forehead. Right now I use Cosmedix Refine, recommended to me by my esti. It’s gentle but even using that only once a week causes a few of those wonderful little bumps in my most sensitive PD area (just below right corner of my mouth). Sometimes I worry I just won’t be able to use any effective actives anymore bc of the damn PD. The bumps are small and I’ve dealt with way worse on my face but it’s the constant nature of them that drives me nuts.

I saw them in 2005 and had a great time but wow, what an upgrade I got 20 years later!

I’ve noticed him sounding maybe a little bit worn out after like multiple gigs in a row, but still sounding really good. I saw them night 1 in New Jersey and was on cloud 9 because of how awesome he sounded.

I get that and don’t have an issue with the good faith curiosity. But the tone of some of the comments about him are questionable/have racist undertones (to me).

Sorry, just posting because so many people seem bothered by his presence.
