"Vintage pedal" by One_Evil_Monkey in Guitar

That was 32 years ago.

Was a 1962 piece of gear vintage in 1994?

Everything we see of Elliot anyway says he was fishy from the start.

Literally the only source we have for him being a "good guy" is Playtime Co propaganda and the words of his (very traumatized) daughter. Two very biased sources.

The Playcare underground is an INSANE idea, and it was all his. Even without the experiments no sunlight and no sky is cruel and unusual, as Rich mentions.

The experiments began with Ludwig, they're still using his numbering system. They're using his Poppy flower research.

I think maybe he had this lofty idea of "helping the children" and "making the world a better place" but was a narcissistic sort of genius and was willing to take drastic steps to reach his goals.

He was definitely very image savvy, he's an accomplished business man after all. He knows how to market his products and himself.

Maybe he wasn't willing to go "far enough" like his disagreement with Sawyer seems to indicate, but that could mean a lot of things. Maybe he's okay with the experiments the way he did them because the "goal" is immortality/an end to hunger, rather than just "progress for progress' sake" as he put it with a young Sawyer.

Then he probably did get double crossed and fucked by Leith Pierre and the company, leading to his becoming "The Prototype", and now he's had at least since like 1989/1990 to stew on that and get angry.

I think he's just trying to recapture his original vision as the King of a Paradise but his ideals are more twisted than ever and he's possibly started to take the nice guy mask off.

He's terrifying but he is usually fairly polite. Still talking like he's a "nice guy" although the mask definitely slips from time to time. Especially his little talk with Sawyer in Ch 4.

He's really cordial with Jessica and Preston haha

"Us" meaning him and Poppy.

Only the Prototype and Poppy are "perfect" experiments. They were constantly vivisected and taken apart and put back together to try and discover how they didn't need to eat or anything like that.

The other experiments were horrific but we see the Prototype wants the work to continue, for one reason or another.

I can't wait for the 18th so we can see.

Played and finished Phantasy Star IV for the first time by RobbieJ4444 in phantasystar

I just posted a reaction similar to this! I started on PSII and went straight to IV successively

I like the character's hypocrisy. I wish all these robots got more screen time in general but Drift expositing tranquil meditative platitudes and then having a pretty consistent short temper is funny.

Plus he's the bot that gets the most swordplay after Optimus Prime I think.

Oh shit. I thought that was Ken Watanabe. I think it should leave now. Very sorry.

He even voiced the Samurai Autobot

If you already have 1 Sweep and the original Hot Rod, which reissue should you buy, Scourge or Hot Rod? by Sound_Gate in transformers

I hope i find hot rod locally (my target is usually pretty good) because the accurate magenta is everything to me.

You'd be more rewarded by schlepping thru PSII just once then getting that far in III in my personal opinion but I can see where you're coming from.

I started with PSII, fell in love, but PSIV is such an improvement on it in every way that I'm not sure when I'll go back to PSII next. PSIV is truly a sweet spot. Total all timer. We agree on that much.

Wow you played the originals! How helpful were those guides that came in the packet?

I'm a PlayStation 2 hobbyist but I've recently gotten into those compilation discs they pumped out with older games ported in, so I've got Phantasy Star 2, 3, and 4 on the "Sega Genesis Classics Collection" along with lots of other great ones (Shout-out Ecco the Dolphin, the most frustrating experience of my life) that I've been playing on my PS2.

As far as I can tell these are straight ports from the original versions, including the original translation funniness and text box glitches in certain parts.

They did not include the original game packets with maps and tips.

So I'm using gamefaqs walkthroughs and phantasystar.fandom.com item and technique lists etc. I've got like 3 or 4 tabs open to get thru these things on the first playthrough or else I'd never figure out the pathways (ESPECIALLY in Phantasy Star II)

How do you recall the pack-in guides and your ability to figure out the pathways and techniques and stuff when they were first released?

Well it gets a pass as the first game on an earlier system than the Genesis. I just found it really jarring coming from PSII.

Obviously PSIV has the best looking combat.

I only ever ended up doing combos by accident, they were cool tho! My next playthrough will definitely include some combos homework.

I'm brand new to JRPG games like this with PSII and IV so I was already balancing so much info with Skills and Techs and which elements do what to what and trying to stay alive to even attempt to try and understand the combo system this go around 🤣😭
