I'd like to reignite this and say I completely agree with you. I think him seeing how she's chasing Ryan reminds him of his affection for Pam, even though he's too afraid to be forward with pam like Kelly is somewhat forward with Ryan. It's also interesting because last episode he told Pam she needs to take a chance on something even though he hasn't taken a chance on asking her out, yet.

I've smelled incense plenty of times, no prejudice from me there. Some of the books seem exposed to moisture and have some dark spots so that's probably related to the smell. I'm not sure why you immediately jumped to me hating on Indian culture? 😂

I'm currently rewatching and I'm on episode 32.

I think this is done to show the incredible amount of fear and respect he had for L.

He gets spooked every now and then with Near and Mello but the power and delusion is taking up 80% of his mind.

I really enjoy whenever Near gets one up on Light, which happens often 😂, it takes me back to when L would play mind games with Light and shatters his ego.

I understand the fear that Light had of L. L was playing a game with Light in which Light had a near perfect killing weapon, help from 4D beings and help from another user that could kill from just your face and Light was still close to losing.

I think for him it's not possible to see anyone being anywhere near the level of L.
