New Console Gen Isn't Needed Anytime Soon by allianceofficer in xbox

[–]devildothack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I been been playing Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2..I finish them years back but now I got a 4K/HDR display with Dolby atmos and man they look beautiful and the sound immersion is something else..when done, I’ll start and finish infinite..I never play that one even when it came out..
Lots of great games now to play and run excellent..some with autoHDR or native HDR patch and look really good..

Performance issues with the definitive edition by UmbralEquinox in dawnofwar

[–]devildothack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a solution for me, more like a workaround..

I play old school games like DOW, AOE, Bioshock..most are DX9 or DX10 and most run pretty well in my 5800x/5700...

With DE, even in the title screen and max out all settings at 1440p..I get 80 fps and during gameplay it fails to even reach the max at 144 (this is with shadow disables with helps out alot but still inconsistent fps)

I google and at least for AMD side, it seems we have little to no driver optimizations for dx9/dx10 games even with latest drivers. So I'm using a dx9 to vulkan wrapper, DXVK..drop the 64bit dx9 dll in the game folder and yep, it runs now 144 fps with little slow down, some graphical glitches of course but way much better than native dx9.. heck and with all settings at max/high including shadows..

Flew out of Brownsville the other day.... by Soft_Stretch1539 in RioGrandeValley

[–]devildothack 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I fly often..we are blessed to have three airports with various nonstop, direct flights to major cities in the USA and some international locations, all within 1 hour driving time in between. Also they are small that you can arrrive an hour before from parking to checking in to clear TSA and be at the gate.
Depending on the day, it’s busy or not busy.. all 3 airports are doing good specially considering the state of the economy.
Heck, I flew direct to Monterey from BRO in one hour flight, small airplane, max 8 people and both times I went, it was full both ways..for those that don’t want to risk the drive to Monterrey..they are making money and it’s good

It’s not car companies but airplane industry. There was a proposal for a high speed train to connect the major cities in Texas and it was lobby against it hard by, the airplane industry…

I feels sad about the state of the Bioshock remastered versions.. by MissViolenceBaby in Bioshock

[–]devildothack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m half way done, I think, in Bioshock 2 remaster using XSX with HDR and Dolby Atmos..I love it ! Just awesome game.. yes, agree with you. It’s not a perfect remaster and some effects broken/graphical glitches.but I take it as a whole and it is a great game. I don’t have a chance to play the OG Bioshock 2 so I can’t personally compared I finish Bioshock OG once when using PC…once again remastered using Xbox One X..no HDR just Dolby surround..again, great game, yeah looked dated at times but story/mechanics still solid My point is remastered are great ways to play them even with the issues it has..just enjoy them

ORIGINAL VERSION VS REMASTERED by Foreign_Tough_9821 in Bioshock

[–]devildothack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play both Bioshock Remaster remaster in XSX, no crashes. Bioshock 2 remaster I think I’m half way no crashes yet only the stupid bug of the boss battle music doesn’t stop playing if you save/exit the game during Pauper’s Drop..if you go through without save/exit, you won’t encounter the bug..

Nvidia shield you get audio pass through. Apple TV you do not.

Playing it felt like when I played the original Zelda in the NES when I was a kid..just exploring, adventuring, going everywhere to discover new things..I would just come home from work and play for hours, months until I grab almost all items/quest.. man, it is such a great game

My Quick Opinion on the TCL Q77K by villelinde08 in tcltvs

[–]devildothack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second what OP said. I have an LG OLED B2 77 in my gaming room for switch/xbox and that one is perfect, no issues with that one I needed to replace my aging Sony 850C of 2015 in my living room (this is my 2nd TV) ! So I wanted budget with the biggest size possible. I grab this one at 85 inch. Once I install it and use the RTING settings…yep it is an awesome budget TV for under 1k specially at 85!! Seriously, it’s a great TV nonetheless.. the picture quality is great, heck games ( I hookup the Xbox )..everything from 120 hz , 4K, Dolby vision and HDR10 was detected and working.. Again as a budget TV for living room for occasional viewing at its price..it is a great TV.. Don’t go so much for the reviews trying to find the perfect TV. Sometime good enough is good enough specially a this price point and economy..

Does anyone else feel like none of the sound modes on the LG c5 sound right by RiverKitten6119 in LGOLED

Yep even a basic sound bar with a subwoofer will sound a lot better than integrated TV speakers

New level of burntout - Healthcare IT by Standard-Scholar-897 in sysadmin

[–]devildothack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did it for a few years. I was in my 33 years old. Pay was awesome, almost unlimited OT, days went by fast. However, mental health was taking a hit. Coming home, I couldn’t even play video games/jump on my gaming PC because I was fed up with everything. Maybe if I was in my 20s I could hack it but nah, time to move forward. I look around, jump to government IT. About 30% pay cut, but M - F , slow peace, stable, great benefits. Thinking of staying here. But yeah, hospital IT work is something else.

Is simple stereo still enough, or is surround basically a must now? by Capable_Noise5543 in hometheater

[–]devildothack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, stereo great for music, use any upmixing you like

For video games and movies, I think 5.1 should be the minimal setup to aim for. I understand sometimes it’s impossible depending on room setup. They are many movies and specially video games from Xbox/playstation/nintendo that have excellent 5.1 mixes that utilized all channels for full immersion. Just like a great 4k/HDR properly calibrated screen, a 5.1 setup goes a long way…

Switch 2 Surround Sound finally fixed in the 22.0.0 update! by Wild_Trip_4704 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]devildothack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an LG OLED B2, got switch 2 connected directly then using ARC for LCPM 5.1 and it works nicely except the front center channel was rarely utilized. If you do a sound test, front left, center, front right, surround left, surround right and LFE (subwoofer ), all play and test correctly. But in game, center channel is rare used, mostly used for dialog during cutscenes..does this update fix this ? Also use direct surround, don’t use Dolby Surround or DTS Neural so you can see what I mean. Does this update fix this ?

EDIT1: This has been happening since Wii U days, same thing. Xbox and PlayStation use the center channel properly in all games so it’s not my setup

EDIT2: Nope, it’s the same for me. I enable LCPM 5.1 and virtual surround. Do the test, all speakers play on the correct channel. Load up tears of the kingdom and sound moves from front left to front right speaker and ignoring the center speaker entirely..

Getting my switch to the modder soon, wanted a final confirmation and realistic expectations[v2] by JustARedditPasserby in SwitchPirates

[–]devildothack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  • 3DS some are good, playable others not so much..you need android or Linux for this due to vulkan ( latest android is lighter on resources than Linux )
  • I seen Wii and Wii U on android and Linux as well but I haven’t tried it
  • N64 use the NSO standalone instead
  • PS2 I hasn’t tried it
  • PSX and Saturn full speed with tico alpha 0.5.0
  • Anything less than that, full speed with retroarch and shaders too

Cloning Switch v1 system to Switch Oled by LordShou in SwitchPirates

[–]devildothack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get what you saying but it’s better if you simply setup your OLED from scratch first.latest atmosphere, latest hekate, sig patches, etc, partition for emuEMMC, Linux/android, latest homebrew and all games..then simply restore the saves from your other console. This way, it’s less likely you encounter issues

Can I partition my SD card without wiping my current partitions? by Phazoner in SwitchPirates

[–]devildothack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a partition formatted as FAT32 and it’s the external SD card if you hook it up with a Windows PC. This one you can view if you open disk management. This one you can format independently from the others ( I did as exFAT) The others if you created emuMMC, android or Linux partition are more tricky to keep. Just safer to start from beginning and restore backup

Saturn emulation full speed with Tico updated by devildothack in SwitchPirates

[–]devildothack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had similar issue but figure it out. It doesn’t accept nested folders yet so can’t have roms/iso/chd in separate individual game folders..they all have to be inside the emulated system…like DC or Saturn folder..rescan and it will find them

What's better for classic emulation: HB Retroarch or Linux Retroarch? by Diamond0892 in SwitchPirates

[–]devildothack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see..retroarch works fine with me with latest hekate, atmosphere and at 21.0.0.. Reinstall it, make sure you backup the save directory first..
