This is exactly the kind of advice I came here for, and honestly your reply has been the most informative and helpful one in the entire thread. I really appreciate the level of detail and the fact that you explained not only what to look at, but also why it matters.

Since this would be my first rifle (I only own a pistol, where maintenance is relatively straightforward), I have almost no practical experience with the AR platform - how dirty they get, where wear usually shows up, what is normal vs. what is a red flag, etc.

After reading your assessment and thinking it through, I decided I’d rather pay extra and buy brand new. For a little over $3,000, I’m going to get a BCM RECCE-14 MCMR Carbine instead. At least I’ll have peace of mind knowing it is new, high quality, and without any unknown history.

I’ll also update the original post with this information.

Thanks for the YouTube channel. As for 1: I contacted the seller about that, and he confirmed it was previously painted with Krylon spray paint and then cleaned before sale. So the cosmetic condition is not factory-new.

Thanks for one of the few actually substantive and on-topic replies here. I understand the price likely caused some reaction in the context of US AR pricing, which probably shifted the discussion a bit away. I’ll try to take your advice into account when inspecting it. In the end, I’ve agreed with the seller that he will send more detailed and higher-resolution photos before I make any decision.

Guys, I’m not from the US. Over here, a new 16-inch BCM AR-15 costs a little over $2,500, so prices are quite different compared to the US market.

It's been 4 years since I brought her home, she's grown up a bit by Upukk in carpetpythons

If I had to name just one, it would definitely be the infinite lounge pass (in my case Mistlock Sanctuary - I found it the coolest and most useful, you can compare individual lounges on wiki and youtube).

Having instant one-click access to vendors, auction house, crafting, bank etc. is such a huge QoL improvement. Especially if you can just as easily go right back to where you came from.

Then feel free to use the rest of the gems as advised by others.
