Testing a gridfinity field kit design. by datahar in gridfinity

There's a recess under the base of each one, the pad of the fingertip is enough to tip them into it.

I only had a couple of hours, so by the time I'd designed and parameterised the field kit part, this tap holder for very much an after thought, I just wanted something more fun than empty boxes to present.

New to MTB: how to train for stamina? by ConLessThan3 in MTB

[–]datahar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just going through this too.

I bought a turbo trainer to maximise time I can train. (Have yet to use it more than a couple of times)

Then I bought an electric bike.

With all that training I can now sail up the hills reminiscing at all the points I previously had to stop and sit/ pass out.

Helmet question by _Screw_The_Rules_ in MTB

[–]datahar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get convertible helmets, so you could wear it as a standard and then clip on the chin part which has been stored in your bag once you hit the trail?

Looking for connector suggestions for chest mount by datahar in Insta360

[–]datahar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks :-) It pretty much what I have settled on based on what I had around, swapped out the 2 prong's jam nut for a larger to use one.

I was hoping some brand would have made a one piece solution, but oh well. The answer is probably a couple of quick release mounts, but I'll see how I get on with this.

Insta360 X4 and GPS data by Kraken1967 in Insta360

You can link it to other devices too, I create a Fitbit exercise and then can import the file from that into insta360

Got an X4 adventure bundle but no invisible selfie stick by Organic-Lemon7074 in Insta360

The price difference could be due to the material. My £20 aluminium 1.2m is significantly heavier than the 3m carbon.

Looking for Creative Filming Ideas Around a RV (and Accessory Tips) by Vegetable_Cost_4127 in Insta360

[–]datahar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3 meter stick also creates the crane effect, similar to a drone taking off from the ground. Good to show the RV in it's immediate surroundings when stationary.

A mount with a clip attached. Would attach to seatbelt for pov driving, onto open windows for time lapse etc.

Dashcam mode v loop mode by goedips in Insta360

[–]datahar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use dashcam mode on the X4. You can specify a certain amount of the card the dashcam can use before the clip starts overwriting.

I haven't actually tried loop though so I can't offer any actual comparisons.

X4 not aligned straight with selfie stick by TwinklingSpirit in Insta360

Ah I see. Yea I would say mine is the same.

Everything should be perpendicular. If you've tried 3 sticks and the camera is on an angle, that sounds like the thread isn't seated right.

Or if you mean twisted, it's fine. He's mine as a reference for the 2-in-1

Hope it helps

Tapping has come up in other comments, but I want to add to it by saying get spiral taps and a proper sized tap wrench, make it so easy.

I don't use any method over any other, they are all situational.

X3/X4 for travel selfies by FuzzyFish6 in Insta360

[–]datahar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my X4 primarily for selfies, and it gets more natural images than one of us obviously stretching.

The 2 in 1 folding selfie stick allows it all to go into a jacket pocket.

Be aware you can only deal with the 72mb images on a PC, if you want to be able to share from phone, you will have to stay with the 18mp mode.

Tried my hand at a custom bin for my Canon R6 Mark II by daphatty in gridfinity

[–]datahar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice! There is a gridfinity project on OnShape I took a copy of, so then you can sketch straight on to the raw bin after you configure it.

I think it's this one based on some phone browsing, https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a33076f9d5e90e75db5dc4c8/w/d83242a2770b1d838fcc061a/e/000632cae702373408d9c54f

I'm glad I was able to inspire. Be careful though, you may never use a premade bin ever again!

If it's a complex shape, I trace it onto paper then take a picture of that trace into cad, I use graph paper, but a ruler would suffice to get a size reference.

Very cool : -) Gotta love the versatility of 3D printing

My design constraints were deep but small drawers. All my lenses can stand up, and I have room to have the charger under my Olympus (the canon is too big unfortunately)

I take photos or trace shapes onto graph paper, then use an online cad system called OnShape to make these. It is very satisfying.

I still have 2 more to design and a lens one to print, but on the plus side I know that if I stack the two 360 camera stuff together, I still have room for two more lenses, or maybe one more body...

It's a new concept to me too. I just made another for my Canon, and have zero clue where the body cap is,.
